The Dinner-Dance on Saturday evening must be classified as one of the best. There was some anxiety that space would be insufficient but we all fit in the Ramada Ballroom beautifully. A fine Dinner was enjoyed by all and the popping of champagne corks throughout the Ballroom heralded a fun-filled evening. Music was furnished by Ziggy Bela. There was a short program. Invocation was offered by Rev. Fr. Dominic Csorba, OFM., Pastor of Holy Cross Church who succeeded the late Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Jacobs. Mr. Gus G. Nagy performed as Toastmaster. Greetings were extended by Mayor Frank Lada. Mr. Gazéi Veszprémi, Director Hungarian Reformed Federation of America extended his Society’s greetings. National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics spoke on behalf of the William Penn Association, its Officers and Directors. Mr. Julius Macker, former National President welcomed the large gathering in Hungarian. The Dancers Hungária provided the only live entertainment of the evening. The loud round of applause after each performance was ample evidence that the youngsters were making a big hit. It is really exhilarating to see these young people perform such intricate Hungarian dances. They deserve the highest degree of praise for their dedication and their will to preserve this Hungarian culture in our land. Mrs. Helen Danko, with her detailed explanation of each set made it easier to understand and appreciate these youngster’s efforts. There were two orchestras so that there was continuous dancing until it was time to say goodnight. John Veszprémi and his Jazz band really had the joint jumping, while Ziggy Bela provided the continental music. At our April meeting our news correspondent, Mrs. Jean Zaluski informed us that she was resigning her position due to other commitments. We regret her decision, as we feel she was capable of doing a good job. This meeting elected yours truly to take care of the news of our branch activities. Our bowlers were looking forward to the Tournament and Fellowship Days held in Detroit, Mich., May 25th and 26th. We did not have the usual representation as we had in the past Tournaments, due to the energy crisis which put a crimp in some of our bowlers’ plans. Those who attended were lavish in their praise of the well organized manner in which the affair was conducted. The facilities, accomodations, and reception were excellent. The Tournament Committee is to be complimented for a job well done. Locally, things have been a bit quiet since our last most successful Dinner Dance. We are looking forward to another gala affair to be held Sat. November 16th, 1974, at the United German Hungarian Club’s facilities in Neshaminy. More details to follow. We are fortunate in having Mrs. Elizabeth Barnett becoming active as a Special Agent. We feel Mrs. Barnett with her personality and business know-how will be a great asset to our organization. We urge our members and friends in her area to contact her for advice and related insurance matters. Her address is — 357 Woodland St., Penndel, Pa. Tel. 757-4246. Since our last news letter, we are glad to report that Pete and Betty Wlosak are both greatly improved healthwise. Paul Gyuraki Sr. is well on the road to recovery from an operation due to his injury resulting from a fall on the ice. One of our popular former officer for many years, Carmen Mudry, has been putting up a courageous fight from an illness that has disabled him in recent years.
