The officers and members of Branch 18 sadly mourns the loss of one of our National Directors from the Detroit Area—Rev. Father Andrew Jacobs. He was a very devoted and dedicated member of the William Penn Association and he will be very greatly missed. He will be remembered by everyone who had contact with him. May his soul rest in peace. Congratulations to Mr. Steve Danko who is now the new Director, replacing Father Jacobs, in the Detroit Area. All of the members and officers of Branch 18 stand ready to help you in any way they can and we know you will do a good job, Steve. The Annual Champagne Dance held on February 9, 1974 is but a memory now — but what a memory! There were approximately 550 persons attending the dance (we tried to keep the number down to make the dancing more pleasant and not so crowded) and everyone had a good time. We had trouble sending everyone home. The music furnished by Frank Borisz and his orchestra kept everyone there until the owner of the hall had to sweep us out (literally). Even the weather cooperated — it was cold but no snow. The officers and members of Branch 18 wish to thank everyone who helped make this affair the success that it was — the workers and all of the guests, even those from out of town — the busload from Toledo and the people from Flint as well as the out-of-town dignitaries — the two Hungarian ambassadors from Washington, D.C. Now everyone is looking forward to next year. The members and officers of Branch 18 Ladies Auxiliary are busy getting ready for their ANNUAL CARD PARTY to be held on Wednesday evening, May 1, 1974 at the VFW' Hall. The very best in prizes will Ire offered as well as pastry and coffee for everyone 3
