The Election of Officers for Branch 226 of McKeesport took place on Sunday, December 3rd, in the Hungarian Social Club. The following will serve the local Branch of the Association during 1973: President, Louis L. Siebert; Vice- Pres. John Sabo; Secretary, Edward M. Rietski; Treasurer, Mrs. Violet B. Lenart; Auditors, Mrs. Elizabeth Buck and Mrs. Eleanor Winter. Mrs. Violet B. Lenart was nominated and elected to head the newlycreated office of Publicity for the Branch. A very successful Christmas Party for the children of Branch 226 was held on Sunday, December 10th, at the Holiday Inn in West Mifflin. The children of the local Branch were joined by those representing Branch 71 of Duquesne, and Branch 89 of Homestead, so that approximately 400 youngsters were present for the Holiday Festivities - many of the youngsters brought parents with them. Christmas carols were sung to the accompaniment of Miss Helen Stipkovits, and the children were delighted with a puppet show “Rumpelstilskin” presented by Miss Johnson of Carnegie-Mellon University. Refreshments were served and the highlight of the afternoon was the appearance of Santa Claus who presented each child with a box of chocolates and a silver dollar. The children were most enthusiastic with their gifts from Santa and the party as a whole. The Officers of the participating Branches were present and worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this combined Branch annual event. Following the Children’s Christmas Party, Officers of the three branches, together with adult Branch representatives, enjoyed a fine Christmas Dinner and the Branch Presidents - Louis Siebert of 226; John Toth of 89; and Gabriel Czernay of 71 - pledged that in 1973, many Branch socials will be planned with joint participation of the three branches, thus enabling participation of more members for greater involvement and interest in the Association. This combining of common activities would be a step in the right direction of total involvement of Branch members. A report on this planning and fulfillment of joint branch endeavors will be reported as they occur through this medium. Violet B. Lenart 296 Springdale, Pa. The Children’s Christmas Party was held Saturday afternoon, December 16th, 1972 in the Social Hall of the United Church of Christ. An interesting program was arranged by the Branch Officers, led by Mr. Gus G. Nagy and assisted by George Charles, Branch Manager, James and George Charles who also acted as Santa’s helper. Mr. Balia, President and Joseph Suzio had arranged for Shamey and Spisak, two magicians to entertain. For one hour they kept children and adults alike unbued with their magic tricks. Carol singing was led by Candace Charles and Charlene Rusnak. Assisting with the distribution of Pop and other goodies were Emma Beganyi, Irene Charles and Mary Stelkovics. Each of the children received a well filled goodie bag from Santa Claus. The large turnout justifies the continuance of these Christmas Parties. The December Branch Meeting was held prior to the Christmas Party. A large turnout of members made the meeting more enjoyable. Prayers were offered by Rev. Imre Kovács for the complete recovery of our President Mr. John P. Balia who is in Citizen’s General Hospital, New Kensington, Pa. The nominating committee consisting of Emma Beganyi, Mary Stelkovics and Joseph Suzio made their report.
