1973-10-01 / 4. szám

Dear Sirs, I would like to thank you so much for the Scholarship grant which I received. I will be a sophmore this quarter at Ohio State University in Columbus. I plan to pursue a career in nursing. With your added help I hope to become a qualified and rewarded person in my field. As I look at the long road ahead it is a comfort to realize people are behind Íou. Not only your family and friends ut you, the Scholarship Foundation of the William Penn Fraternal Association. It is nice to know they have confidence in you. When I finally reach my goal I will thank those people and say “Thank You” William Penn Association for their help, too, towards making my career a dream come true. Thank you again. Sincerely ana appreciatively, Jan Susan Hahlen Jan Susan Hahlen Miss Hahlen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hahlen. Mr. Hahlen is a member of the Board of Directors of Branch 189. She also is the granddaughter of Mrs. Julia Sera and the late Mr. James Sera. Our sympaty goes to the Alex Bums family of Sebring and the Alex Pataki family, of Alliance both of whom died this last month. Mrs. Elizabeth Bandy of Cleveland, Ohio and a former member of Br.198 William Penn Auxiliary was in town to attend the funeral of her brother-in-law Mr. Alex Pataki. She and yours truly recalled many memories of such old timers like Mr. and Mrs. Louis Tosha (my own dearly beloved parents), Mrs. Alex Pataki, Mr. Martin Mogyoros, Mr. and Mrs. John Korosy and on, so many dear Hungarians who have gone to their resting place with our Lord. They are gone but not forgotten. The ladies of the William Penn Athletic Club are planning a bus trip to the Ice Capades in Cleveland the latter part of October. This will be a fun time for all the ladies, so make your reservations early ladies! Remember to keep your policy up to date, like change of name, change of address or change of beneficiary. It will be easier on the survivors in case of death. Contact your Branch Manager Michael Duruttya for this service or for your needs for hospitalization or life insurance. Call 821- 5215 or write to 1708 S. Morgan Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601. Marie Duruttya 226 McKeesport, Pa. All regular meetings of the Branch will be held the FOURTH SUNDAY of each month, 2:30 P.M., at St. Stephens Church, Beacon Street, McKeesport, We would like to see more members attend our meetings and become interested in the planning of, and participation in, the various activities within the Branch. At our September meeting, tentative plans were initiated regarding our Annual Children's Christmas Party. Last year, Branches 226-McKeesport, 71- Duquesne, and 89-Homestead, joined together to hold one combined Christmas Party and the venture proved highly successful. It is our hope that such an arrangement will be possible again this year, possibly with other Branches participating. Also, active discussion centered around the implementing of Hungarian language classes for all members of the Branch, and friends, who may be interested in learning to speak Hungarian. For those of us who speak the language, this would afford an excellent opportunity to increase our skills along this line. More about this project and other Branch 226 activities will be forthcoming. Violet B. Lenart Reporter 296 Springdale, Pa.
