beth Szabó. Mr. Stephen Nemeth who was a member for 60 years and his cousin Stephen Nemeth, both passed away recently. Our sincere sympathy to the Nemeth Family. We would love to see you all at our Bowling Tournament and Banquet in May, a grand time will be had by all, promise you. Sincererly, Mary Karnya, Reporter 18 Detroit, Mich. Branch 18 holds its Branch meetings the SECOND SUNDAY of each month at 2:00 P. M. at the V.F.W. Hall, 1125 Fort Street, Lincoln Park, Michigan, The ANNUAL CHAMPAGNE BALL was held at the Castaways Hall in Riverview on Saturday evening, February 10, 1973, and I am happy to say that it was an outstanding success. Frank Borisz and his Continental Orchestra provided that wonderful “Hungarian Dance” music that had everyone on the floor — had to send everyone home very much against their will at 1:30 A. M. (rules of the Hall). More than 600 persons attended this glamorous affair and everyone had such a good time they are all coming back again next year! Some of the dignitaries attending were: Dr. Sándor Varga and András Kasnyik of the Hungarian Embassy; Emil Mazey, Sec.-Treas. of the UAW-CIO; Paul Domeny of the Catering, Restaurant and Bar Union as well as the Attorney William Mazey. A busload from Toledo, Ohio wiere in attendance as well as from Flint, Michigan and from Branch 500 on the east side and others too numerous to mention. The CARD PARTY sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary scheduled for March 7th was postponed until WED., APRIL 4th, 1973, at the V.F.W. Hall, 1125 Fort St., Lincoln Park, Michigan. The Auxiliary members promise everyone who attends a better time than they enjoyed last year with refreshments, table prizes as well as door prizes. The William Penn Mixed Bowling League is still having a hotly contested fight for first place — only 6 points separates the first ten teams — now that’s what I call a contest. The winners will be decided on Sunday, April 29, 1973. The William Penn Mixed Bowling League Banquet will be held on Saturday evening, May 19, 1973, at the Park Colony Club on Goddard Road (just south of Reeck Road). The catering will be done by none other than Mrs. Gyorke (so you know the food will be excellent). Set-ups and dancing will also be provided. For further details see or call Mr. and Mrs. John Ónodi or Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Csereklye. A good time will be provided to all who attend — and you don’t have to be a bowler — everyone is welcome!! Talking about bowling, Branch 18 is sending approximately eight or ten teams to the National Bowling Tournament to be held in Cleveland on Memorial Day weekend — watch out you other bowlers!! Darlene and Steve Szatmári (she’s the daughter of Steve and Julia Danko) are proud parents of a baby girl born on March 4, 1973. Congratulations to you both and to your new daughter. Two of our members are home from the hospital — Mrs. Mary Tirpák and László Kubovios, Branch 18 Auditor. Mrs. Anna Somergary was also in the hospital. We are most happy all of you are home and we wish you good health and a complete recovery. Three of the Auxiliary members are in Florida enjoying the warm climes down there — Irma Herr, Vice President of the Auxiliary, Ann Lakatos and Julia Tremble. Have a good time but hurry home! It is with regret that I report the death of Mr. Joseph Marczis at the age of 92 years. He was president of Branch 36 (Now Branch 18) for many years and he held many other offices. The younger generation always considered him one of our “Grand Old Men”. Good-By, Mr. Marczis, and may your soul rest in peace. We will miss you very much. 22 Roebling, N. J. Branch 22, Roebling, N.
