Quite a number of William Penn, Br. 18 members spent five glorious weeks in Hungary this summer visiting relatives and friends and just having a good time— but it was good to get back “home” again and into the swing of things. PICNIC AGAIN A HUGE SUCCESS! The Annual Hungarian Picnic sponsored by Branch 18 on Sunday, August 20, 1972, at the Magyar Park in Estral Beach was a huge success even though we ran out of kolbász and “fánk”. — Frank Borisz and his Continental Orchestra provided the good Hungarian music — you coudn’t get onto the dance floor it was always so crowded. The program consisted of speeches (Mayor Frank Lada of Allen Park was the main speaker), a few numbers performed by the Junior members of the Dancers Hungária. — It was nice to see all of our friends at the picnic and meet so many new people. A “Thank-You” dinner will be held on Sunday, October 8, 1972, at the VFW Hall. 1125 Fort Street, Lincoln Park, immediately following the branch meeting. This dinner is being given in appreciation for the hard work and effort of the officers and members of Branch 18 who worked so hard to make the picnic the huge success that it was and also for their help throughout the year. “Yours truly” will be presented with her ‘Illustrious Citation”at this affair — this citation was to have been presented at the picnic but due to unforseen circumstances it will be presented at this “Thank-You” dinner. Plans are being formulated for the Annual Children’s Christmas Party to be held on Sunday, December 10, 1972, at the VFW Hall immediately following the Annual Meeting of the Branch. The officers and committee members are shopping for gifts for the children and the other necessary details are being finalized. Don’t forget the BIG ITEM OF THE YEAR—THE ANNUAL CHAMPAGNE DANCE!!! — This yearly affair will be held on Saturday evening, February 10, 1973, at the Castaway Hall — the same place as last year. Frank Borisz will be playing at this affair. Get your reservations early as this is always a SELLOUT.
