Before everyone adjourns for summer vacations and activities, these final activities took place in Detroit. Branch 18 was most happy to be able to contribute $100 to the West Virginia Flood Relief victims last month. The members of Branch 18 felt a personal bond existed between the unfortunate victims of the flood and themselves — after all, the William Penn Fraternal Association was founded by thirteen coal miners! Our Annual Hungarian Picnic will be on Sunday, August 20, 1972, at the Magyar Park, Estral Beach. Frank Borisz and his Continental orchestra will perform at this affair. The officers and members invite all of their out-of-town friends to remember this date and are looking forward to seeing you at the Picnic. The usual delicious Hungarian food and refreshments will be available. The Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 18 held their Card Party on Wednesday, May 3, 1972, at the V.F.W. Hall. They were most fortunate in that the weatherman cooperated and a wonderful turnout was realized. Over 185 person enjoyed the cards, refreshments and oodles of door prizes which were donated by the members. The ladies also enjoyed a few words from National President Elmer Charles, who was in the Detroit area on a business trip. Directors Rev. Jacobs and J. P. Vespremi were also introduced to the ladies. A very substantial profit was also realized from the hard work of the Auxiliary members — they really outdid themselves at this affair. Thank you, gals! An outing is planned for sometime this summer and and Anniversary Dinner for sometime this Fall.
