Awards of $250.00 to the following: Stephen Vargo, Branch 127, Joliet, 111.. James D. Charles, Branch 2%, Springdale, Pa., Dennis Liptak, Branch 1, Bridgeport. Connecticut. All awardees have been notified and in our next issue we hope to bring their pictures. The full Board of Scholarship Foundation convened on June 13, 1972 to make future plans. Now that Internal Revenue Service has granted tax exempt status to the scholarship all contributions and donations made to the fund are tax deductible by the donor and it is hoped contributions will increase accordingly. Due to the fact that scholarship awards are limited to the net investment income of the fund, every effort will be made to increase the assets by receiving contributions from Branches, members and friends of the Association. The donation of $100.00 or more entitles the donor to become a member of the Scholarship Foundation. All Branches of the Association are urged to become members of the Foundation by sending in contributions of $100.00 or more. Board members will help to establish, in their area Branches, Scholarship Foundation Committees comprised of those members who by profession or preference are interested in and are willing to help promote the aims of the Scholarship Foundation. Branches are requested to set aside one day each year to hold a social event the proceeds of which would be donated to the Scholarship Fund. The Board suggested that the 1973 National Bowling Tournament and Fellowship Days be known as the Scholarship Foundation Bowling Tournament. This event is the largest single fraternal activity of the Association thus it should become associated with the Scholarship Foundation. For this season when the Executive Committee of the William Penn Ass‘n appointed Dr. Andrew Kovács and Albert G. Kertesz Co-Administrators of the 1973 Tournament, Director Sabo, President of the Scholarship Foundation was appointed to coordinate the Scholarship Program with the Tournament and Fellowship Days Co-Administrators. In this issue the reader will notice that at the Board meeting $1,250.00 was contributed to the Foundation by Board Members. This is a true indication that the Board Members are seriously interested in having the Scholarship program succeed. All Branches, members and friends are asked to help us by becoming substantial contributors to this worthwhile fraternal endeavour.
