Scholarship Foundation Internal Revenue Service of the United States Treasury Department has officially informed the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation Incorporated that it has been granted tax exempt status under Section 501 (C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Under this ruling those who make donations to the Scholarship Fund may deduct such contributions as provided in Section 170 of the code. Officers of the Scholarship-Foundation hope that contributions to the Fund will now be made regularly by individual members and friends of the Association. All branches of the Association are urged to arrange fund raising social events for the benefit of the Scholarship Foundation. (See article elsewhere in this issue describing how Br. 226 McKeesport, Pa. assisted the Scholarship Fund with its ‘Candlelight Ball”). Our young deserving and needy members can anticipate more and more grants in aid to further pursuit of higher formal education in direct proportion to the generous contributions made to the Fund. So please do your fair share to help our youth. We list herewith the names of all who have contributed to the fund from its inception in June, 1968 to March, 1972. In future issues of William Penn Life we intend to give recognition to those who contribute to the Scholarship Fund regardless of the amount donated. This program was established for the sole purpose of financially aiding our needy and deserving youthful members who perhaps without this aid could not complete their higher educational desires and wishes. All contributions should be mailed to William Penn Scholarship Fund, 429 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15219 and these will be acknowledged. Sincerely, Joseph Toma, Secretary John Sabo, President Rev. Andrew P. Jacobs, Treasurer Stephen Lang, Jr., Vice President Donations to the William Penn Scholarship Foundation, Inc. from it* s inception June, 1968 to March, 1972 $20,000.00 William Penn Fraternal Association 120.08 Barbara Hegedűs 100.00 Father Andrew Jacobs 50.00 New Parker Offset Printing Co.
