William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation, Inc. After more than two years in the preparation stage we are pleased to announce to our interested membership that the William Penn Scholarship Foundation Continued from Page 1 A harmonious Board of Directors will provide for the present members and the prospective members the best possible insurance plans and programs, to meet the requirements of today and tomorrow and at the most reasonable cost possible. In the coming year we must put forth our best efforts to assure the WILLIAM PENN SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION of reaching that success which was envisioned by the Board of Directors when the Scholarship Foundation was established. The Officers and Board of Directors are doing their best to have the program succeed. Our Branches can be of tremendous assistance in this endeavor, by putting forth their best efforts, by sponsoring social activities which will financially boost the Scholarship Fund. It is our fond hope that the year 1972 will also bring to a climax the many arduous years of planning and negotiating to bring our building program to a successful conclusion. Many years of toil and honest effort has gone into the merger of the American Life into William Penn, perhaps the many years of hard work will bear fruit in this the first year of our new Administration. The goals set by this Administration are to assure the Association of proper growth. We are not deluding ourselves into trying to perform miracles, no, we only want for our Association its fair share of success in this highly competitive world and with proper attitude and respect for one another, with fervor to assist our fellow man and with the help of the Almighty this Administration hopes to achieve all those goals which it has set out to accomplish. Elmer Charles will make its first scholarship grants in March, 1972 to become effective with the September, 1972 academic year. The rules pertaining to the scholarship grants are as follows: 1. PENN MEMBER RE-ELECTED Sheriff John IT. Peck Branch 296 is very proud of the fact that one of our members, Mr. John W. Peck was overwhelmingly re-elected as Sheriff for Westmoreland County. Brother Peck has been active for many years in the Branch and we are always happy to see one of our members receive due recognition. With our President Mr. John P. Balia as one of his deputies, we know that things around the Courthouse in Greensburg are in the best of hands. Continued good luck to you Mr. Sheriff. Association after successfully completing his college course in Insurance Marketing. 3. Applications for scholarship grants and other necessary forms may be obtained by writing directly to the William Penn Fraternal Scholarship Foundation, Inc., 429 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15219, or by contacting your local lodge Secretary. All those desiring to make application for scholarship grant should have their applications and pertinent papers submitted to the Home Office by March 1, 1972 at the latest. The Scholarship Foundation needs the financial support of all Branches, members and friends of the Association. The larger the scholarship fund becomes, the more needy and deserving members we can assist in furthering their higher educational needs. Donations made to the scholarship foundation are tax deductible which can be very important to individual donors. Several of our Branches have already started a program of annually conducting a social event, the proceeds of which either in total or in part are for the benefit of the Scholarship Fund. It would be a remarkable achievement if at least the larger branches would participate in such a program. We know of two sister fraternal societies in which the Officers and Directors in lieu of mailing out Christmas greeting cards make a donation to the Scholarship Fund. Perhaps this could be done at the William Penn too. All contributions to the Scholarship Fund should be mailed to the Home Office, they will be acknowledged. 2
