75. Mr. John Veszprémi, Jr., Secretary of the National Auditing Committee now reads the report of the Auditing Committee. It is moved and seconded that the precise and detailed report of the Auditing Committee be adopted* 76. Mr. Robert Ec Bruce now presents his report in summary form and the Convention is pleased to hear that the Association is in the best position it has ever been in. Mr. Bruce’s entire re­port is adopted. 77. Chairman Charles recesses the meeting at 12:30 P.M. 78. Chairman Charles reconvenes the meeting at 2:00 P.M. and the same are present. 79. The Fringe Benefit Program provided for the Home Office and District Office employees of the Association is ratified by the Convention. 8 0. It is resolved by the Convention that a delegate may be a candidate for one elective position only. 81. Mr. Charles announces that the next item on the Agenda is nomination for National Officers, Directors and Auditing Commi­ttee members. 82. The Chair is now open for nomination for the office of Na­tional President. Delegate John Sabo places in nomination for National President the name of Mr. Elmer Charles. In support of this nomination, seconded speeches are made by Vice President Louis L. Varga, Delegates Stephen G. Danko, Frank J. Wukovits, Jr. and John Bokor. There being no further nominations it is moved, seconded and adopted that nomination be closed and the Chairman instructs the Convention Secretary to cast one ballot for the unanimous election of Mr. Elmer Charles as National President of the William Penn Fraternal Association Mr. Charles, deeply touched by the expression of confidence placed in him, thanks the Convention for the election by acclama­tion, which is a historical event in the annals of the Association for a President to be elected twice in succession by acclamation. 83. The Chair is now open for nomination for two Vice Presi­dential positions. Delegate John McCarthy nominates for Vice President, Louis L. Varga. Seconding the nomination is Delegate Jacob Me 11 itz. Delegate E Imer Toth places in nomination the name of J ohn P . B a 11 a for Vice President. Seconding speeches are made by Delegates Louis Jesso, Roger Nagy and Julius Telegdy. There being no further nominations, it is moved and seconded and adopted that nominations be closed and that the Convention Secretary cast one ballot for the unanimous election of Louis L. Varga and John P. Balia as Vice Presidents of the William Penn Fraternal Association. 84. Nomination for position of National Secretary is now open. Delegate Stephen J. Varga places in nomination the name of Albert J. Stelkovics. Vice Chairman, Louis Fodor seconds the nomination. There being no further nominations, it is moved, sec­onded and adopted that the nomination be closed and the Conven­tion Secretary cast one ballot for the unanimous election of Albert J. Stelkovics as National Secretary of the William Penn Fraternal Association. 85. Nomination is now open for the position of National Trea­surer. Delegate Edward Behuncik places in nomination the name of Julius E. Somogyi. Seconding speeches are made by Director Frank Bero, Delegates Colomon Bertalan and Albert V. Kocsis. There being no further nominations for thi s office, it is moved, seconded and adopted that nominations be closed and the Con­vention Secretary cast one ballot for the unanimous election of Julius E. Somogyi as National Treasurer of the William Penn Fraternal Association. 86. The newly elected National Officers individually express their thanks to the Convention for the unanimous election of each to office. All pledge their best efforts for the William Penn. 87. It is moved, seconded and adopted that nominees for posi­tion of Directors and Auditing Committee write their name on a slip of paper which will be collected by the Tellers. 88. Chairman Charles declares that nomination for the office of 12 Directors and 12 Alternates is now open. The Convention approves the sending of the following letter to President Nixon as prepared by Delegates Behuncik, Meilitz and General Counsel Banes: My Dear Mr. President: The William Penn Fraternal Association, assembled at its headquarters, City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for its 27th Na­tional Convention adopted the following Resolution: RESOLVED THAT the William Penn Fraternal Association in regular session assembled for its 27th National Convention wishes to express deep appreciation for your warm words of greet­ing and your recognition of the accomplishments of our organiza­tion and its contribution to our national life which generated a strong feeling of pride in every member. RESOLVED FURTHER that we want to assure you of our con­tinued loyal and collective support for your tireless leadership of our troubled country and a world beset by complex problems. RESOLVED FURTHER that on behalf of our nationwide member­ship, we want to record our approval and endorsement of your re­cent Executive Order, freezing prices and wages, and other mea­sures to bring about order and stability to our great nation and to the world. RESOLVED FURTHER that we entreat God’s help to bless your untiring work and efforts with success and a special prayer to bring a long lasting peace to a world full of turmoil. RESOLVED FURTHER that we want to assure you of our loyalty and support for your programs in order to make the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania the greatest state in which to live, work and play.
