Branch 1 -sponsored a most successful Dinner Dance, Saturday, November 7th, 1970 in the Social Hall of the United Church of Christ, North Avenue, Bridgeport. Connecticut. The Dinner was arranged in order to introduce new members into the Association by the Branch during the previous year and to celebrate the merging of the Connecticut Branches into Branch 1, Bridgeport, Connecticut. A brief program was arranged. Mr. Andrew R. Balogh served as Toastmaster. Mr. Albert Kocsis, President of the Branch, extended welcome to all. Mr. Louis L. Varga, National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics and Director Frank Bero made pertinent remarks. The main address of the evening’s program was delivered by Mr. Elmer Charles, National President, Mr. John P. Balia, Chairman of the Board, extended greetings and good wishes in the name of the Board. Attending the Dinner were Director and Mrs. Michael Hegedu-s, New Brunswick, New Jersey, Director and Mrs. Toma, New York, New York, Mrs. Louis Varga, Mrs. Albert J. Stelkovics and Mrs. Frank Bero. Reverend Stephen Bessemer offered the Invocation. Also represented were the members of former Branch 42 in Wallingford, Connecticut and former Branch 4 in Torrington, Connecticut. Branch 48, New York, headed by its President, Albert Ibos, was well represented; also present were representatives from Branch 51, Passaic, New Jersey and Branch 13, Trenton, New Jersey and National Auditors, La-szlo Kereszti from Branch 48, New York and Zoltán Emri from Branch 22, Roebling, New Jersey. Reporter 8 Johnstown, Pa. Our Branch Christmas Party held at the Hungarian Citizen Club for the children and their parents was a huge success. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus made their entrance and the children gave them their Christmas orders. Music was furnished by the Ark Kays, Christmas Carols were sung by all and games were played in different age groups. Prizes were given out to the winners. After refreshments were served, gift packages and filled booties (made by the President and Officers of Branch 8) were given out to the children by Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and Santa’s helpers (Ethel J. Faczan, Betty Edmiston, Irma Slick, Ethel C. Faczan, Betty Faczan, Steve Kedves and Debbie Slick). A good time was had by the children. Your Secretary wishes each of you a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. WEDDING CONGRATULATIONS: Pictured, is Francis Carl Revesz with his wife, a member of our William Penn, Branch 8, and son of one of our long standing family members, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Revesz. Miss Karen Stephanie Conley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph W. Conley. They were married in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Our congratulations to the newly weds. Betty Edmiston, Secretary 13 Trenton, N. J. I am delighted to report that Branch 13 had a very successful Children’s Christmas Party. Director Frank J. Radvany, welcomed everyone on behalf of the Branch and wished them an enjoyable afternoon. He introduced Mrs. Irene Parker of the Dancing Studio, a group that gave a wonderful entertaining program. Many thanks for her generous and obliging time each year with her beautiful dancers. Next on the program, Mr. Stephen Vechy, Branch President, pulled out door prizes and this year every child attending the party was lucky enough to get a door prize. Then Santa Claus, the guest of honor, that all the children were anxiously awaiting, arrived in his beautiful velvet attire and his jolly spirit. After greeting everyone, Santa gave Christmas stockings filled with goodies and a gift to all. After talking to every child and distributing all the gifts, Santa left the Party and refreshments were served. Election of Officers was held at our December meeting and the following were elected for the year 1971: Mr. Stephen Vechy, President, Mr. Alex Virok, Sr., Vice-President, Mrs. Elsie Radvany, Secretary, Mr. Stephen Lestician, Treasurer and Mr. John Hegedűs, Auditor. Congratulations and best wishes to all our newly elected Officers that will serve our Branch for the year. M. 16 Perth Amboy, N. J. On Sunday, December 6, 1970, a Christmas Party was held at the Eagle Hall. A large group of children were present with their parents also in attendance. The children were entertained by Dennis Kowal with a Puppet Show consisting of a Punch and Judy Show and some magic. Many children participated in it. Some of the children showed their talents by some song and dance numbers. All the children sang carols with George Merkovich providing the music. We were happy to have Mr. and Mrs. Bartholomew Skapinetz with us. They will celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary this month. Congratulations from all of us and may you have many more. Mrs. Ann Hrabar, chairman was helped by Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Mészáros, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Zegan, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hrabar, Mrs. Elizabeth Moffitt, A1 Kreger and Annette Hrabar. Officers elected for 1971: Michael Hrabar, President; Stephen Mészáros, Vice President; A1 Kreger, Treasurer; Carol Hrabar, Secretary; Ann Hrabar, Reporter; Frank Hrabar, Entertainment Chairman; and Mary Mészáros, Gordon Zegan, Helen Zegan, Auditors. Michael Hrabar is elected for the 15th year as President. 19 New Brunswick, N. J. Over 300 children and their parents were in attendance at the 1970 Children’s Christmas Party which was held at the Hungarian American Athletic Club Auditorium. Due to the inclement weather, many did not take part gs in the past. Branch President Mr. Vendel Zimonyi welcomed everyone after which Chairman Mr. Joseph Arvay presented the Puppeteer who entertained with a Punch and Judy Skit to everyone’s enjoyment. The children screamed with delight to see the villian get his just dues in the end. After the entertainment, Chairman Arvay introduced National Director Michael Hegedűs who delivered the greetings of National President Elmer Charles, the Officers and Directors of the Association, then wished 7
