Judith Radvany has been a member of the William Penn Association since childhood. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Judith Radvany Charles A. Radvany of 2235 Liberty St., Trenton, N. J. and granddaughter of former Director and Mrs. Frank Radvany, Sr. She is a graduate of Trenton State College and received her B. S. Degree in Nursing. She is presently employed at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach, Florida. Congratulations and best wishes to all our National Officers for being re-elected at the 27th National Convention, and also to the National Directors and the Auditing Committee. Branch 13 extends congratulations to our local Director, Frank J. Radvany for being re-elected for his second term, The date for our Annual Children’s Christmas Party has been set for Sunday, December 12th, at the St. Stephen’s Parish Hall, corner of Genesee and Hudson Streets, at 2:00 P. M. Arrangements are already made for Santa and entertainment, and as always there will be gifts and goodies. Hoping all our youngsters will be able to attend. Members please be notified that at the regular Branch Meeting to be held on December 5th, there will be election of Officers for 1972. Try to make every effort to attend, and please make note that our regular Branch Meetings are held the first Sunday of every month at 2 p. m. Miss Margaret Kovach, Reporter 14 Cleveland, Ohio GOLDEN DAYS Mr. and Mrs. John Nemeth Mr. and Mrs. John Nemeth of Cleveland, Ohio celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a family dinner at the Bit of Budapest Restaurant, Pearl Road, Parma Heights, Ohio. They were married in 1921 in St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, Erie, Pa. Mrs. Nemeth, the former Elizabeth Babjak, was born February 17, 1901 in Szabolcs megye, Mezöladány, Hungary. Mr. Nemeth was born March 15, 1899 in Zemplén megye, Bély, Hungary. He retired from Valley Mould and Iron Company, Cleveland, in 1966. The Nemeths are parents of Elizabeth, wife of Stanley Sustarsic. They have one grandson, David. 18 Detroit, Mich. Dear Members, summer is gone and our Branch is back in full swing again with our regular monthly meetings at the VFW Hall in Lincoln Park, so set aside each second Sunday of the month and join us at our meetings. The Branch’s Mixed League started bowling again and we have 22 teams ready to roll and prepare for next year’s National Bowling Tournament which will, be held at Philadelphia, Pa. Our picnic last August 15th was an overwhelming success with over 1500 people attending including some of our National Officers and Directors. The Dancers Hungária did an excellent job with their performance and the music of Frank Boricz was as usual, “Good”. All of you Branch fellas and girls who worked so hard for several days in preparation for this event are to be given a great big thank you and did you notice those boys in the white straw hats get around? Don’t forget our next big gathering at the Branch and that will be the Annual Children’s Christmas Party in December and at the same time we will conduct our Annual Election of Branch Officers, so all of you who might aspire for a Branch Office, be sure and be there. February 12th, 1972 is the date for our Annual Champagne Ball and more details will be available in the local Hungarian paper. Your reporter recently returned from the 27th National Convention of your association which was held at Pittsburgh, Pa., and the results of the elections of officers and directors will be published in the William Penn Life and these are the people who will guide your association for the next four years. Our local Hungarian newspaper has changed ownership and is now under the leadership of Dr. Cornelius Navori, President, Rev. Andrew Jacobs (also National Director) Vice President, Mrs. Elizabeth Lovas, Secretary-Treasurer, Stephen Úsztok, Controller and Frank C. Rogers, Manager. We wish them every success for the future of this fine Hungarian publication and for those of you who want to be kept fully informed of what is happening among the Hungarian people, please subscribe to this excellent news media, “The Detroiti Magyar Újság”. As in the past if you have any newsworthy contributions please contact me at either 841-4258 or 425-5123 and I shall be happy to submit your articles. Since this will be the final issue for 1971 your reporter would like to wish each and every member a joyous Christmas Holiday and a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. This greeting and wish comes not only from your reporter but from all of the officers of Branch 18. A most important item to announce at this time. Last August, John Veszprémi Sr. was awarded the Illustrious Citation for more than 57 years of dedicated work for your Association. Mr. Veszprémi held various levels of office including that of Branch President beginning with the former Verhovay Branch 36 and currently working as an officer with Branch 18. Mr. Stephen Danko, Branch President was also awarded the Illustrious Citation for his many years of devoted service to both the Branch and the National Association.
