Dinner-Dance held at the Hilton Ballroom was greatly enjoyed by all. Thanks to Bowling Tournament co-administrator, Mr. John Balia, Vice President and Chairman of the Board and Mr. Gus Nagy, Field Manager, Central, for making the tournament such a success. We bowlers of Alliance had the honor of bowling against the champs, Kearn’s Cafe, a nicer bunch of men we have never met before. Congratulations to them! Also congratulations to William J. Korosy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Korosy. on his graduation from Mount Union College as a Math Major. We wish him all the success in life. Marie Duruttya, reporter 349 Weirton, Va. Louis C. (Chuck) Fodor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis A. Fodor of Weirton, was among the 211 Midshipmen graduated Louis C. Fodor from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy June 9. In addition to receiving a BS degree, Midshipman Fodor was awarded a license as an officer in the Merchant Marines. He also received a commission as an ensign in the U.S. Navy and will report for flight officer’s training at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla. He was appointed to the Merchant Marine Academy by Arch A. Moore Jr., then First District congressman and now governor. Ensign Fodor’s parents attended the graduation ceremonies in Kings Point. Mr. and Mrs. John Kostyo of Campbell, Ohio were guests at an Open house on Sunday, June 6, 1971 in honor of their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary. Acting as Mr. and Mrs. John Kostyo hosts and hostesses were their children and families Mr. and Mrs. John Kostyb, Jr. of Poland, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Conlan of Vienna, Ohio. Miss Laura Kostyo and nine grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Kostyo were married in St. Mary’s Church Ör-Darma, Hungary on June 7, 1921. Mr. Kostyo worked for Republic Steel for 20 years and was owner of Johnny’s Cafe on Wilson Avenue in Campbell, for thirty years. Mr. Kostyo was president of Branch 108 of the William Penn Fraternal Association for 25 years and was cited for service. Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Menyus Kostyo of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, who was best man at the Kostyo wedding, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Curko of Welland, Ontario, Canada, Mr. and Mrs. Steven Toth and family of Clairton, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Sasko celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at St. Emerich’s Catholic Church. The Rev. George Talaber, pastor, was the celebrant. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Sasko Chuck is the son of our Branch 349 Branch Manager, Louis A Fodor. We have always followed with interest Chuck’s career and wish him the best of luck in his chosen field, and belatedly we hear that Chuck married his High School sweetheart in July — Congratulations! Following the Mass, a family dinner was held at Campanella’s Restaurant, Scalp Avenue. They were married June 18, 1921, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Windber, by the Rev. Joseph Fogtar . Mrs. Sasko, the former Theresa Edeleni, was born October 17, 1905, in Gallitzin. Mr. Sasko was born Sept. 13, 1899 in Hungary.A coal miner for 46 years, he retired from the Berwind White Coal Co. in 1960. The Saskos are parents of three children: Betty, wife of Michael Sholtis, Michael Jr., married to the former Joan Hall, Florida, and Joseph, married to the former Julia Martinec, Bridgeport, Conn.
