Cake at the respective tables. The Ballroom then became brighter. Next he asked the employees and bowlers to do likewise and finally everyone lit their candle and the Ballroom became fully lighted, the result of everyone pulling together can produce extraordinary results and this is what the William Penn does through cooperative efforts of its Officers, Directors, employees, field men, Branches and general membership. We show that “Fratemals Care.” The demonstration also was an indication that even in today’s world there can be useful demonstrations which counter balance the destructive demonstrations. There then followed an entertainment program. Mrs. Barbara Ann Angyan rendered beautiful piano selections, Ed Scotti sang songs in English and Paul Martincsek in Hungarian. Mary Lou O’Toole brought the house down with her performance. The program closed impressively with George (Pityu) Charles, nephew of our National President singing the Magyar Hymnusz and God Bless America accompanied on the flute by Candace Charles Rusnak, granddaughter of our President Charles. The weekend, of course, was filled with the competition of our William Penn Bowlers from all over the country. There is hardly ever a Tournament without complaints, but very few were heard this year. The Bowling City Lanes of Mt. Lebanon were excellent, buses were comfortable and made frequent trips between the Hotel and Lanes. The Hotel accomodations were good. (The list of prize winners can be found elsewhere in this issue—Editor). Team winners trophies were ceremoniously presented by the Tournament Co-Administrators, Messrs. John P. Balia, Vice President and Board Chairman and Gus G. Nagy, Field Manager—Central. The success of the Tournament was due to the tremendous amount of effort put forth by the two administrators who were instrumental in making a cohesive working local committee consisting of members from Branches in the Pittsburgh environs. This Committee has decided to remain as an organization and intends to promote social and fraternal activities throughout the year. For their diligent work the Tournament Co-Administrators deserve our thanks and appreciation and even though they were both entitled to three per diems for the time they devoted to the promotion of this event, Mr. Gus Nagy, as a full-time Field Manager, did not accept the per diem and Mr. John P. Balia, Vice President, accepted the three per diems of $180.00 with the proviso that it be turned over, in his name, to the William Penn Scholarship Foundation, Inc. in the hope that someday in the near future it will help some deserving member. Certainly this was a fine fraternal gesture on the part of Mr. Balia and perhaps this will be the forerunner of future generosities of the same nature. We had a happy 85th Birthday Celebration, a fine Bowling Tournament and now on to Philadelphia, the site of the 1972 Tournament where the local committee, spearheaded by Director Stephen Lang, Jr., Anthony Noel, President and Stephen Szemes, Manager of Branch 76 are already working on the success of the next Tournament. CONGRATULATIONS TO REV. TIBOR TOTH We have learned that our Sister Fraternal Benefit Society has elected a new Vice President to fill the vacancy created by the death of George Borshy-Kerekes of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. Rev. Tibor Toth of Lincoln Park Michigan was elected to the position. Both as fraternal and as fellow members of Rev. Toth, who is a William Penn member in good standing in Detroit wfe extend sincere congratulations and wish him success in his career as an active fraternalist. 2
