Excerpts from Minutes of Board of Directors Meeting Held December 8-10, 1969 1. The Board of Directors Meeting was opened by National President, Elmer Charles, who welcomed the Board Members and National Officers. He extended cordial greetings for this fourth quarterly meeting and was happy to see members of the official family in good health. He stated this meeting is one we all look forward to since it is nearing the yearend. Between Thanksgiving Day and the Christmas Season is a period of goodwill. We are grateful for blessings everyday not only on Thanksgiving. We should practice goodwill every day, not only in the Christmas season. President Charles emphasized Hope. This meeting will look upon the accomplishments of the past year and immediately look ahead with greater hope for the future. Looking back over the years he has seen a steady progress forward, and if one maintains that hope, it will lead to a better life. National President Charles extended warm greetings to Joseph Semetko, Treasurer of Branch 14, Cleveland, Ohio, who was present at the Board Meeting. President Charles reported the following deaths: John Szalanczy, former Director and retired National Treasurer of Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association, passed away October 9, 1969. Director Frank J. Wukovits, Sr. attended the funeral and gave the Eulogy in the name of the Association. Illustrious Member John Molnár, Former Manager, Branch 115, Seanor, Pa. Illustrious Member, Joseph Iroczky, Former Officer, Branch 164, Chicago, 111. Illustrious Member, Daniel Kapcsos, Former Manager, Branch 146, Butler, Pa. Illustrious Member, Stephen Lukacs, Former National Auditing Committee member and Former District Manager, Branch 18, Detroit, Michigan. President Charles attended his funeral and eulogized his activities for the Association. Illustrious Member, John Werner, Branch 76, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Denes Acsay, Manager, Branch 209, St. Louis, Mo. The Board of Directors and National Officers stood for a moment of silence in memory of all of our deceased members. National President, Elmer Charles, offered congratulations to Vice President Julius Lenart on his re-election as Councilman for the City of McKeesport, Pa. He also noted the vacant chair of the National Controller and Budget Director, John Sabo, who has left the service of the Association. We all wish him every success in his new endeavor. President Charles also conveyed to the National Officers and the William Penn Association Mr. Sabo’s sincere appreciation for the opportunity he was afforded to serve our Association. 2.
