1 In Memóriám JULIUS J. LENART Vice-President The William Penn Official family as well as the entire membership was shocked early Thursday morning, August 13, 1970. to learn that our National Vice-President and Director Julius J. Lenart had unexpectedly died. Only a short time previously had he returned to limited duty and we all believed him to be well on the road to complete recovery from his recent hospitalizing illness. The Lord, however, decided otherwise. Mr. Lenart was born in McKeesport, Pa., August 8, 1916, the son of Joseph and Martha Lenart. He was a member of the Association from early childhood. He attended McKeesport Grade and High Schools. He was indoctrinated in the then Verhovay Fraternal Association by his father who, for many years, was a dedicated officer at Branch 226. McKeesport, Pa. Mr. Lenart became a Branch Officer in the English Speaking Branch 395 of McKeesport. In 1944 he was employed as Assistant to the National Treasurer in the Home Office until 1953 when he entered his own Real Estate and General Insurance practice. At the 1955 National Convention, he was the Convention Secretary and was also elected a National Director of the Association. In his first term as Director, he served as that august body’s Secretary. The 1959 National Convention recognizing his talents and valuable contributions to the growth and prosperity of the Association, elected him National Vice- President, and in 1963 and again in 1967, he was reelected to this position and was serving in that capacity when death called him. Mr. Lenart was always proud of his Magyar heritage and there was no worthwhile Hungarian activity in which he did not participate. We had our Senior Citizen’s Picnic on August 16th at Lorain Boro Park. We honored all our 60 year Senior Citizen Mrs. Ethel Faczan, President of Branch 8 pinning corsage on Mrs. Joseph Dudash. ................... Members of Branch 8. The Senior Citizen members were treated to refreshment tickets and also flowers. Our oldest lady member is 83 years 1969 the Magyar Club of McKeesport selected him as its “Man of the Year” and appropriately honored him. Our Vice-President was very civic minded and was instrumental in bringing about much recreational benefits for the youth of McKeesport. Of the many offices held at various times were: Member of McKeesport Parking Authority, Zoning Board, School Board and then was elected a member of City Council. Not only the William Penn Fraternal Association but his own community will sorely miss him and his valuable spirit of building for the future. Mr. Lenart is survived by his widow, Mrs. Violet Lenart nee Borshy, his mother, Mrs. Martha Lenart, a sister Mrs. Margaret Kraynak and a brother, Joseph. The Eulogy was delivered by Mr. Elmer Charles, National President on Saturday, August 15th at the Funeral Home. In attendance paying last respects were his fellow Board Members, National Officers and Auditing Committee members. Requiescat old, Mrs. Joseph Dudash of 398 Stone Street. Mr. Joseph Madarasz, 87 years old of 537 Jean Avenue is the oldest man. They received a small token of appreciation. Mr. Joseph Madarasz We had members of William Penn from Martins Ferry, Ohio. Val Konyha furnished our Gypsy music for the day. Everyone enjoyed the Hungarian foods and fellowship. With deepest regrets we announce the death of two members. Frank V. Dudash (Edith Ave.) who passed away Sept. 14, 1970. He was an Officer for 47 years of this Branch. He served three consecutive terms as President of the organization, Frank V. Dudash 1956 to 1958 and in 1962 to 1966.. He was a president of The American Hungarian Citizen Club and organizer of The St. Enterich Church. Michael J. Faczan, Director, who passed away September 25th, 1970 was the organizer of the Rákóczi, which now is the William Penn Fraternal Associalife Official Publication of the William Penn Fraternal Association Editor-In-Chief..........................................................
