18 Detroit, Mich. The Annual Christmas Party for Br. 18 children was a whopping success and at the last count of over 300 persons, your Reporter stopped counting. As shown by the pictures taken, our branch was very well represented. Santa Claus (Steve New) made a big hit with the kiddies and passed out a variety of gifts and refreshments to all of the children. Our adult members were treated to delicious pastries and coffee and the members of the Ladies Auxiliary are to be complimented for their valuable assistance in serving our members. Officers elected to lead our branch in 1970 are as follows: President, Stephen Danko; Vice Presidents, Frank Csiszár and Alex Koroknay; Secretary, Elvira László; Treasurer, John P. Vespremi; Controller, Steve New. Auditing Committee: John Veszprémi Sr., Joseph L. Gross, László Kubovics, John Silagyi, Andrew Toth. Members at Large: Dorothy Vespremi, Frank L. Kato, Stephen P. Danko, Gabor Takacs. Honorary Presidents: John Veszprémi Sr., Joseph Marcisz and Stephen Csabi. With officers of this caliber to lead us at the branch level, we should enjoy another successful year. At this point special mention should be given to the Ladies Auxiliary for their fine work during 1969 and their generous donations to charities and scholarships. Donations of $355.00 were made to various charitable causes and a scholarship in the amount of $250.00 to the son of Mr. Frank Kato. In addition the Ladies Auxiliary contributed generously to our Children’s Party. Mr. Stephen Úsztok our esteemed District Representative for many years reported another banner year for our branch in writing new business and it is noteworthy to mention that Stephen Úsztok has aways been one of the five top producers of new business for our Association. The children all joined in group singing of Christmas carols. They were led by Mr. Joseph Revay our new vice president. Santa arrived with presents for all. Delicious refreshments were served to everyone present. A special thanks to the Home Office for its generous contribution and to all the officers who worked to make this party a success.
