Santa Claus arrived at the Hungarian American Citizen Club at 4:00 p.m. He talked to the children, listened to their Christmas requests, and gave out small gifts. Photos were taken with the groups by our President Ethel Faczan, Our youngest member attending our Christ­mas party, was Douglas Tresnicky, 3 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Tresnicky, all the way from Holsopple, Pa. Games were played, prizes were given out. We also had a band, Christmas carols were sung by the parents and children. Children danced as well as parents. Everyone sure had a wonderful time. Santa gave out the treats for 135 youngsters. Santa’s helpers were Ethel Faczan, Betty Edmiston, Irma Slick, Debbie Slick, Steve Kedves, Alex Yuhas. Election of Officers 1970: President: Ethel Faczan; Vice President: Steve Kedves; Secretary: Betty Edmiston; Treasurer: Irma Slick; Trustees: Ethel Faczan and Barbara Machak. Branch 8 of Johnstown, Pa. will hold a Picnic on August 15, 1970. Val Kony­ha Gypsy Music will be provided. * John Faczan of 209 Luther Road is observing his 95th birthday anniversary. Mr. Faczan was born Dec. 15, 1874, in Hungary. Mr. John Faczan He came to the United States in February 1905 and began work at Johns­town Plant, Bethlehem Steel Corp., in May 1906. He retired in January 1948. Mr. Faczan is the father of one son, Michael, married to the former Ethel Boback. There are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Betty M. Edminston, Sec’y 14 Cleveland, Ohio Our annual election of officers was held at the December meeting. Last year’s officers were unanimously re­elected to serve a second term. This years officers are: President—William Kastan; Vice President—Mary Karnya; Secretary—Mike Jones; Treasurer-—Jo­seph Semetko; Auditors—Kal Karnya and Frank Oravis; Sergeant at Arms— An­drew Curvago; Entertainment Chairman Frank Ruskay. The only change in officers is with the Sergeant at Arms, Mr. Gallo who has served faithfully for several years declined nomination this year for reasons of health. He has been named our Honorary Sergeant at Arms for Life. We take this opportunity to thank Mr. Gallo who has served our branch over the years and has been pallbearer for many of our members, attending funerals no matter what the weather or what inconvenience to himself. Fraternal ded­ication as shown by Mr. Gallo is very rarely seen nowadays, and we want Mr. Gallo to know how much he has been appreciated. Over seventy people attended our elec­tion meeting and we would like to see you people here every month. Refresh­ments were served by courtesy of the officers. Good luck and another year of success to our officers. Our annual Children’s Christmas Party was held on December 14th. The guest of honor was Santa Claus, who passed out gifts to all the children. Hot dogs and cold drinks were served, Christmas Carols were sung to the accompaniment of John Sulin who played the accordion. A good time was had by all. Our branch will be holding some type of activity in March, and it is undecided as to what type of affair it will be. Please attend the next few meetings to be in on the plans. Branch 14 and Cleveland area mem­bers are reminded that our local office is open all day Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Specific hours are not set up for Monday or Wednesday. Several ladies from our branch were among those honored at the Elite Ball held at the Cleveland Sheraton Ball­room for the benefit of the Divine Re­deemer Home. They were Mrs. Mary Karnya, Mrs. Anna Boza and Mrs. Helen Barrie. Each of the ladies was presented with a bouquet of red roses and amid hearty applause descended the grand staircase on the arm of a tuxeoded escort. These women were being thanked for their tireless efforts and hard work in raising money for the home which provides a home for elderly women. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rackozy Sr., who recently cel­ebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Congratulations are in order for Frank Ruskay on his recent promotion to Executive Administrative Aid to the Cuyahoga County Engineer. Congratulation on the January 17th wedding of Mr. and Mrs. William Pa­­riza. Mrs. Pariza is the former Donna Marie Naso, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pertz. We have heard that former Council­man and member of branch 14 Robert Lavdis has taken out petitions for office of Cuyahoga County Auditor. Another of our members prominent on our local political scene is Anthony Russo, who is seeking re-election for- his fourth term of office to the Ohio House of Representatives. Mr. Russo, active in our branch affairs, has done an out­standing job representing our 43rd District and members living in that district are asked to give Mr. Russo their full support in the upcoming pri­mary election. Get Well wishes go out to Margaret Toth in St. Luke’s Hospital. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Pete Kalikan on the birth of their youngest, Tamara T. Kalikan. We extend our sympathies to the families of the following members who recently passed away. They are: Mr. Frank Chaney, Mr. Steven Nagy, Mr. Steve Toth. Also the family of Mrs. Catherine Futo. Branch 14 will hold a card party on February 15th at 2:30 p.m. at Kossuth Hall. Hope to see you all there. 16 Perth Amboy, N. J.
