Congratulations are in order again for our Million Dollar producer, Dr. Arpad Nagy, Agency Manager of Br. 13, Trenton, N.J. Dr. Nagy was honored and awarded a beautiful plaque at a dinner in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Sept. 9th. Mr. Charles, our National President made the presentation. All the National Officers and National Directors were present at this great occasion. They all extended congratulations to Dr. Nagy for this “First in William Penn History,” that a salesman sold a “Million Dollars of Life Insurance” in a 12 month period. I would like to report at this time that our Dinner-Dance will not be held on October 11th as planned, because the Music was cancelled out by the “Continental Gypsies”. But members and friends you won’t be disappointed because the Dinner- Dance Committee is working on another date in January, and we promise a gala affair. Watch for the exact date for this big Dinner-Dance in the next issue of William Penn Life. Miss Margaret Kovach, Reporter 14 Cleveland, Ohio Our annual Fall Festival will be held on November 1st at Bethlen Hall, East Boulevard and Buckeye Road. There will be the traditional Hungarian foods, and folk dancing under the direction of Miss Rita Karnya. The main event of the evening will be a “csárdás” contest for adults and children with prizes awarded to the best couples. The doors will open at 7:30 P.M. — so bring a friend and spend an enjoyable evening in the atmosphere of the Old Country. Mark your calendar now. Wedding Bells rang out recently for Patricia Oravis and Daniel Mehlman; Patricia is the daughter of Helen and Frank Oravis who celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary in August and a Happy Birthday to Frank. Congratulations on their recent mar­riage to Mr. and Mrs. Jay. Mrs. Jay is the former Melvina Hegedűs. Many of our members attended the “Laci Pecsenye” Golf Tournament held by Johnny Mack and are looking forward to next year’s tournament. We wish to extend our deepest sym­pathies to the families of the following members who passed away recently: William L. Bandy, Mrs. Marton Her­mann, Mrs. Geza Berzes, Mrs. Frank Bago, Mr. Julius Yargo, Mr. Joseph Mate, Mrs. George Kolach and Mr. Joseph Tira, Sr. Sympathies are extended to Mr. and Mrs. Julius Futo and their family. The Futo’s 21 year old son, John, was killed in combat in Vietnam. Member Charles Laslo has taken over the proprietorship of the Rez Fur­nace Improvement Company on Buckeye Road. School is back in session for our juvenile members and among those taking that first big step into Kinder­garten are Phillip Lowe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Lowe, and John G. Balia, son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Balia. Mr. Pete Balega, Lieutenant with the Cleveland Police Force is currently at Northwestern University attending a seminar. A speedy recovery is wished for Mary Karnya who is convalescing after sur­gery in St. Luke’s Hospital. Our monthly branch meetings are held on the first Sunday of every month at the Kossuth Hall, East Boulevard and Buckeye Road. Meetings begin promptly at 2:30, door prizes are given each month. The Branch membership is mourning the loss of one of its outstanding young men: JOHN A. FUTO, who the day after his 21st birthday be­came a casualty of the Vietnamese con­flict. Young Futo went to Vietnam in April and was killed in action in September, he had previously been wounded eight times in the fighting for Hamburger Hill and only five days later, still in bandages, he was assigned to a machine-gun crew. John was graduated from Benedictine High School and is survived by his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Julius Futo, a sister Katherine and two brothers Julius and Richard. The Officers and Directors extend condolences to the Parents and family of John A. Futo. In closing we urge all our members to exercise their right to vote this November. Remember your vote is your voice in your government. Bernadette Balia, Reporter 15 Chicago, Illlinois Joseph B. Irocky of Chicago, Illinois, Branch 15, was suddenly called to Eternal Rest on September 3, 1969. Joseph B. Irocky He was born in Szt. András, Hungary on July 1, 1893. Late in his teens, he came to the United States and settled in Chicago. By 1913 he had become a. Master Barber. He retired last April from Bala­ton Barber Shop. On June 25, 1916 he married Margaret Zoltani, at the West Side Hungarian Church in Chicago. From this union there are three children: Joseph, Mar­garet Leona Schneider, and Arthur Rob­ert. There are four grandchildren. Sur­viving him, is also a sister, Mrs. Emma Pauga. He became a member of Verhovay Branch 164 in 1924, and took an active part in its affairs and growth. He held the offices of treasurer, secretary and president over the span of years, and was awarded a citation, from the home office, for his outstanding service to the Association on March 17, 1947. He was instrumental in the mergers of the Chicago Branches into one Branch under the Number of 15. Interment: Acacia Park Cemetery Mausoleum. The Board of Directors and Officers extend condolences to the family. 18 Detroit, Michigan William Penn Fraternal Association Branch 18 is planning a chartered flight to Budapest and plan to leave towards 3
