He four (greatest (Ehristmas Present anő Prnmtse What a joy it is that we can celebrate Christmas again, together and in good cheer. Because this exceptional day comes but once a year, let us make the most of it. Let us eagerly anticipate it, and let us glowingly remember it. Since the theme of this Christmas message is PEACE AND PROMISE our task therefore is twofold: to work for God’s glory, always reaching out to the highest and noblest concept within and without; secondly to structure diligently the peace without which our civilization cannot survive. Our program for an even greater future at William Penn can be found in the Christmas declaration the angels brought to the shepherds in Bethlehem’s fields. Today’s English version, puts the text of Luke: 14 into these words: “Glory to God in the highest heaven! And peace on earth to men with whom he is pleased.” The angel’s message has been one of joy. Triumph, fulfillment. Peace is not our right. It is a treasure to be sought. A price to be won through our exercise of good will. The spirit and true gift of Christmas is Love; the means to attain that Peace. Today and all days of our lives, let us give — and gratefully receive — this precious gift of Love. In this, Christmas is truly universal—a common bond for men of good-will in the William Penn Fraternal Association to keep working for peace, creating peace and practicing peace. Let us never be satisfied with our accomplishments. There is so much more to do. In order to continue our noble task, we need faith and good will, we need to know Love for what it is: the resolver of prejudice: the conqueror of hate: the destroyer of bigotry. Love is the bearer of peace to all men. Everywhere. May it be yours—today and always! FROM ALL OF US AT WILLIAM PENN HOME OFFICE GREETINGS AND BLESSINGS OF THE SEASON. Elmer Charles National Treasurer Julius E. Somogyi Honored by P.F.C. The 58th annual meeting of the Pennsylvania Fraternal Congress was held recently in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The Julius E. Somogyi, National Treasurer William Penn Fraternal Association was represented at the meeting by National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics, Past President of PFC. and Julius E. Somogyi, National Treasurer. Forty-three fraternal benefit societies were represented at the annual meeting which commenced Sunday, November 9th with a program of Gems of Fraternalism during which programs the junior members of various societies displayed their talents and methods by which they are perpetuating in this wonderful country of ours, the heritage of our forefathers, unfortunately the William Penn had no such representatives although our Association is rich with junior talents of all kinds. The interesting two day program was for the benefit of all of the Fraternal Benefit Societies, highlights by an address by the Hon. George Reed, Insurance Commissioner, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. National Treasurer Julius E. Somogyi was elected a member of the Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Fraternal Congress, we all join in wishing him a productive and successful term.
