On Sunday, March 31st, 1968, Mr. Joseph Toma, supervisor of agenies in the east, called a meeting for all part time personnel for the purpose of educating them in our new hospitalization and accident and health plans. Dr. Arpad Nagy, Branch 13, agency manager, director Frank J. Radvany, and Miss Margaret Kovach, special agent, want to express their thanks and appreciation for having the honor of hosting fourteen agents and four guests, including Mr. Michael Hegedűs, director from New Brunswick, agents were from branches of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We are certain that this meeting was a fine example, that our agents have the interest and enthusiasm that will make our Association grow. We would like to congratulate the chairman, Mr. Michael Hegedűs, and the committee on the fine job they did on the New Jersey State William Penn Dinner-Dance, held in New Brunswick on April 20th. Everyone from our branch had a wonderful time. The food was excellent and the music superb. The officers of Branch 13 want to thank the members and friends for attending and supporting this nice affair. Miss Margaret Kovach 14 Cleveland, Ohio President Nick Yuhasz of Branch 14 invites each and every member to the monthly meeting Sunday, June 2nd, 1968 at the Kossuth Hall corner East Blvd. and Buckeye Rd. Check in with our Sergeant-at-Arms Mr. Gallo who keeps a record of your attendance. When John Palacsic asked how many could not speak or understand Hungarian -—only six showed their hands, Branch 14 is still a Magyar language Branch. Bert Szilagyi made an impassioned plea that Branch 14 buy or build a home for the Branch but not on Buckeye I hope. The officers are toying with a door prize to be given away every monthly meeting. Excellent?? Paul Kiss the barber has just returned to work after being in the hospital for a couple of weeks. Member Judge Blanche Krupansky of the Muny Court, is now a candidate for the Common Pleas Bench. Member Denes Szász and I worked for GM at one time, Steven A. Jakab was the first Prexy of Branch 366, when it existed. Rev. Gabor Brachna is working on the Hungarian Heritage Day. Very few picnics this summer, the cost is too high. Captive Nation Week will be observed the third week in July, on the Cleveland Public Square. Joseph Kovatch Branch 14 Treasurer has been in the hospital for a check-up. Dr. Andor Kovács former director made the arrangements. Member Mary Ann Bodnar now lives in Parma 0. There hasn’t been an outstanding Hungarian Bowler since member Steve Nagy. Gene Toth son of former manager Jos. Toth works at the Brook Park Ford Plant. Stephen Gaboczi, lawyer, former councilman, former price administrator for this area, and at one time candidate for Judge, is always there when needed, and he is a staunch member of Branch 14. There were about eighteen women at the April meeting. There was a discussion on the purchase of a home for Branch 14. Also a picnic and a Grape Festival. Steve Szappanos our Sec’y will be the Hungarian columnist from Branch 14. 18 Detroit, Mich. The Branch is proud to learn of the promotion of Edward S. Gordish to Construction Mechanic 2nd Class. Mr. Gordish is a grandson of our former Branch Manager in Iselin, Pa. Mr. Thomas Gordos, who throughout the years built this small Branch from a mere handful to over 200 members until its recent merger. Mr. Gordos would be proud of his grandson. 28 Youngstown, Ohio The Rev. John J. Vaskó passed away on Saturday, April 20, 1968, after a long illness. He was a member of the first class of priests to be ordained in Youngstown. Rev. Vaskó was born May 1, 1917. He became pastor of St. Stephen of Hungary Church in 1946 being the first son of the parish to be ordained in 1943. The Rev. Vaskó was active in many civic and church organizations. One of the Rev. John J. Vaskó last events he attended for Wm. Penn was the convention in Pittsburgh last September. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 24, in St. Stephens Church. Our sympathies are extended to the members of his family. The community as well as Wm. Penn has lost a truly great man and friend. EMERALD ANNIVERSARY Mr. & Mrs. Alex Orsag, 301 Milliken Ave., Sharpsville, Pa., celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Sunday, March 31. The occasion was commemorated by an Open House at which many friends and relatives extended their congratulations and best wishes. Hosting the affair were the Orsag’s three daughters, Mrs. John Kukuda, Jr., of SharpsviRe, Pa., Mrs. George Marenkovic, of Youngstown, Ohio and Mrs. John Feedler who was here from Riverside, California. Mr. and Mrs. Orsag were married in Szabolcs Megye, Polgar, Hungary. They have resided in Sharpsville since 1921. He is retired from Shenango Penn Mold Co. We too add our congratulations to the happy couple and wish them continued health and happiness. Congratulations upon their recent engagement goes to Miss Sheryl Bunchy and Richard Davis. Wedding plans are indefinite as Richard is now serving in our Armed Forces. Married this past Feb. 26 were Joanne Kripsak and James Simon. They are making their home in Ambridge, Pa. Birthday greetings are extended this month to all of these people: Veronica Illés, Irene Chuey, Valerie Lenton, Sheryl Bunchy, Mary Cornman, Joanne Simon, Bob and Karen Popovec, Joe Illés, Ed Gabrick, Jr. Also to Alex Nagy Jr., Sonny Tollas and Bill Duffy. Anniversary wishes go to Art and Margaret Burnett. Our local Mixed Doubles League has come to a successful end. The banquet will be held on May 18 at the Skylark in Canfield, Ohio.
