"MRS. FENWICK. Since I introduced House Joint Resolution 268 on May 28, 223 Members of the House have joined me as cosponsors of this resolution. I want to thank those Members for their support, and I owe a special debt of gratitude to my original cosponsor, Mr. LANTOS, and to the gentleman from New York, Mr. HORTON, the chairman of the Committee to Commemorate the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Without their help, and that of Mr. Stephen Gereben, the president of the Hungarian Freedom Fighters Federation, and Dr. Michael Szaz of the Confederation of American Ethnic Groups, this resolution would not have come before us today. Finally, I would like to thank the chairman and the ranking minority member of the Committee on Post Office and Civil Service, Mr. FORD of Michigan and Mr. DERWINSKI of Illinois, for their expeditious consideration of this resolution." -CR H 7309 October 14.

A 25- ÉVFORDULÓ ÜNNEPSÉGEI

(IDŐRENDBEN)

MAGYAR TEMETŐKÁPOLNA FELAVATÁSA W. VIRGINIÁBAN

Washingtontól 160 km-nyire és Berkeley Springtöl 10 km távolságra West Virginia állam erdőségében van a SZABADSÁGHARCOS SZÖVETSÉG "MEMORIAL PARK"-ja, amely a MOUNT TABOR INC., adománya. Itt épült fel a Bereg-megyei Csaroda közse'g templomához hasonló stilusü magyar temetőkápolna, melyet az 1956-os Forradalom eszméinek megőrzésére, valamint a szabadságért életűket áldozó hősök emlékére dedikált a Szabadságharcos Szövetség, október 11.-én.

A kápolna avatási ünnepsége előtt - a katolikus és protestáns egyházak szertartása szerint - a családtagok jelenlétében helyezték örök nyugalomra DALNOKI VERESS LAJOS v. vezérezredes, a Szabadságharcos Szövetség v. elnökének; HAJMÁSSY ILONA, az egykori filmsztárnak, aki a magyar ügyek egyik leglelkesebb támogatója volt; valamint GUARY KÁLMÁN v. repülő Őrnagynak a hamvait, a családok külön kriptájába.

A kb. három órás programot, amely a kápolna előtt zajlott le, Ft. DR. IRÁNYI LÁSZLÓ, FT. VITÉZ BAÁN, valamint NT. SZIÁRTÓ ISTVÁN és NT. KOVÁCS PÁL közreműködése vezette be: imát mondtak és- a 3ibliából olvastak fel részleteket. A temetőkápolna hivatalos átadását és átvételét DR. RIGLER RICHÁR, VITÉZ BAÁN és GYŐRIK ILONA MÁRIA látta'k el.

U.i.: A Memorial Park területileg ö'sszefügg a 186 acre-s Mount Táborral, amelyet még 1972-ben vásároltak magyar település parcellázásának céljára. A Mount Tábor Inc., elnöke Dr. Rigler Richárd, aki a kápolna kulcsának átadásával jelképesen elismerte, hogy a kápolna is a Magyar Szabadságharcos Szövetség tulajdonát képezi. A közös magyar temetőkápolna gondolatának megvalósítója Győrik Ilona Mária, aki a kápolna ajtajának kinyitásával szimb«»lizálta az átvételt.

A nap programjának további részében DONALD DAWSON ny. tábornok, aki Hajmássy Ilona férje volt, tartott nagyhatású emlékbeszédet. Utána VITÉZ BAÁN, DR. SZALAY LÓRÁND, TASNÁDYKCVÁCS FERENC, TÓTH IMRE, GEREBEN ISTVÁN, MEGYERI LÁSZLÓ, CSÓKA JENÓ,MASSZI LAJOS, valamint SZTGETHY ATILLA méltatta DALNOKI VERESS LAJOS és HAJMÁSSY ILONA érdemeit, a Szabadságharc hősi halottainak és a "PESTI SRÁCOK"-nak történelmi jelentó'ségű áldozatait.
