Rotatoria és crustacea vizsgálatok a Körös-Maros Nemzeti Park víztereiben 291 and Crustacea fauna of these waters have not been investigated earlier and therefore this survey may be considered as a baseline investigation. The data are very important for obtaining more knowledge on the aquatic life of Hungary. The trophic state is characterized, usually, by the algae-count, algae-biomass and also by the chlorophyll-a concentration value. Nevertheless, the population density and biomass of Zooplankton also indicate the trophic state due to the strong feeding (grazing) relationship between phyto- and Zooplankton. In characterizing the water bodies we have also relied on these vlues. The species composition and population density of Rotatoria and Crustacea were highly variable in the examined 44 water bodies. Several species, characteristic to Hungarian flowing and standing water bodies were identified. Some of the may form very dense populations under favourable conditions. These species are the ones, which are characteristic to polytrophic and eutrophic waters receiving high organic loads. There were also water bodies where the species were characteristic to waters in between aquatic plants and of the biological film of aquatic vegetation or to the surface layer of the bottom sediment. Among these species there were some very rare ones too. Two Rotatoria species were newly identified in the Hungarian fauna: Brachionus quadridentatus var. zernovi Voronkov, Trichotria tetractis var. paupera (Ehrb.). We have also found species, which are very rarely occurring in Hungary. These were as follows: — Rotatoria: Euchlanisproximo Myers, Lecane stenroosi (Schmarda), Mytilina mamillata Bancsi, M. ventralis var. macracantha (Gosse), Trichocerca collaris (Rousselet). Cladocera: Alona intermedia Sars, A. guttata var. tuberculata Kurz, A. karelica Stenroos. A. protzi Hartwig, A. rustica Scott, Daphnia curvirostris Eylmann em. Johnson, Chydorus latus Sars. Copepoda (Calanoina): Eurytemora velox (Lilljeborg). Species characteristic to alkaline lakes were as follows: — Copepoda (Calanoina): Arctodiaptomus spinosus (Daday), A. wierzejskii (Richard). Cladocera: Moina macrocopa (Straus). The water bodies, which can be considered important ones from the nature conservation point of view, on the basis of their Rotatoria and Crustacea fauna were the following ones: Holt-Sebes Körös (Okány), Gyepes-csatorna (Sarkad), Fekete-Körös, Bódizug (Sarkad), Kórógy-ér, Mindszent-Szegvár közúti hídnál. Terehalom, a marshland opposit to the reeds of Csikótelepi, Borza-Holt-Körös (Szarvas), Ozém-zugi-Holt-Körös Öcsöd, Tiszafbldvár), Aranyosi-Holt-Körös (Szarvas), Gyügér-zugi Holt-Körös (Kunszentmárton), Dan-zugi— Holt-Körös (Gyomaendrőd), Nagyfok, Fazekaszug.
