438 Gaál Ferenc Mivel az Igazgatóság működési területe két állammal — Ausztriával és Jugoszláviával — határos, és a vízfolyásaik zömének vízgyűjtő területei ezeknek az államoknak a területén vannak, a függőség megköveteli, hogy a szomszéd államok vízügyi terveivel jó kapcsolat alakuljon ki. Erre a lehetőséget a Magyarország és Ausztria, illetőleg Magyarország és Jugoszlávia között megkötött vízügyi egyezmények biztosítják. Az Igazgatóság feladata, hogy a bizottságok munkáját szakmailag segítse és a határozatokat - a jószomszédi viszony szellemében — a külföldi partnerrel együtt végrehajtsa. E téren mindkét állam helyi vízügyi szerveivel az együttműködés kifogástalan. Ezt bizonyítják a tervidőszakban az országhatáron vagy annak közelében végrehajtott munkálatok akár a Mura, Kebele, Kerka jugoszlávokkal, akár a Pinka, Strém, Arany-patak osztrákokkal közösen végrehajtott rendezési munkáinál. * * * Activities at the West-Transdanubian District Water Authory during the IV-th Five-Year Plan period By F. Gaál, Civ. Engr. The area of the West-Transdanubian District Water Authority (denoted by No.

6 in the schematical map of the district water agencies in the country) is situated in the western part of the country, bordering on Austria and Yugoslavia. The area shown in detail in Fig. 1. is 7570 km

2 and is divided among three major catchments, namely those of the Rába, the Zala and the Mura rivers. The entire catchment of the Zala River is Hungarian territory, whereas parts of the other catchments lie in the neighbouring countries. The objective of the IV-th Five-Year Plan from 1971 to 1975 was the performance of the most urgent water management tasks in the area at an expenditure of 2.4 thousand million Ft. Besides the three major rivers the rolling area is crossed by a number of minor watercourses, requiring extensive damage aversion and regulation work. Accordingly, Section 1. is devoted to flood control and flood fighting, watershed- and creek control, river regulation works. In Section 2. the activities related to agricultural water uses are described, including irrigation, the construction of reservoirs and fish ponds. Section 3. deals with water supply, sewerage and pollution control, starting from the rather primitive conditions this field and describing the wide variety and great volume of the works performed for improving the situation. The other activities described in Section 4. included designing and construction work, further the considerable efforts made towards technical development and the results achieved. In conclusion the international relations with the neighbouring countries are outlined, emphasizing the friendly atmosphere thereof. * * * Activité de la Direction des Eaux de la Transdanubie Occidentale dans la période du 4
