166 Salamin András studies were warranted in the interest of the measures to be implemented for increasing flood safety. The analysis was based on the data of 66 rain gages 1 recording rain gage, observation records of 23 stream gages and on the results of 13 streamflow measurements made during the flood. The problem consisted first of determining the distribution of rainfall (Figs. 2 to 4), the water volume profiles (Tables I. and II.), finally plotting of the rating curves and discharge hydrographs (Figs. 6 and 7) for the individual cross-sections. These latter had to be constructed by retrospective estimation, since rating curves were available in a few cross-sections only and even these failed to include the extreme cases. The experiences gained during the flood emphasised the importance of the tele-metering system under construction, to the design of which the present flood wave has contributed essential basic data.
