ficant parameters thereof proved to be insufficiently accurate. Relationships and mathematical formulations are needed for estimating various particle size fractions of bed-load moving in bands and for expressing the relationships between sediment transportation and comminution. As a first response to the increased significance of suspended sediment approximating empirical formulae have been resorted to necessarily, since no single formula could be derived as yet in which all significant parameters of surface erosion could have been combined.
