<80) с ) relationship between local run-off originating from rainfall, or snowmelt and discharges entering the channel system under different conditions, on the basis of plot measurements, and detailed discharge records, further of hydraulic, electrodynamic and mathematical models. 1.1.3.2 Study of fundamental phenomena relating to flow in channels, in particular a ) attenuation of flood waves in the channel system and storage reservoirs, b) coincidence and superposition of flood waves of the tributeries of a river basin, c ) effect of geohydrological conditions and the riparian strip on the regime of small watercourses, d) hydraulic and regime conditions at mouth reaches. e ) relationships between quantity and quality parameters of river regimes. 1.1.3.3 Studies relating to the hydrology of lakes and ponds, in particular a ) level fluctuations of lakes and relations thereof with meteorological factors, b) wind-induced water movements in lakes, c) the role of water balance characteristics and drainage area on the regime and water chemistry of lakes. 1.1.3.4 Methodological studies concerning the collection of data and exploration of conditions, in particular a ) improvement of methods for estimating discharges from flood traces (with the development of computation schemes), b ) methodological problems concerning the construction of maps of average run-off and of liydrological profiles (with the compilation of directives), c ) improvement of methods and instruments for infiltration measurement. 1.1.3.5 Problems in applied research, such as a ) liydrological criteria for planning flood control (floor retention by storage, effect of levees on flood wave passage, etc.), b ) liydrological and hydraulic problems concerning the design and operation of drainage canal networks and pumping stations, c ) hydrological foundations of surveying and utilizing surface water resources. 1.1.4 Soil moisture 1.1.4.1 Improvement of observation methods of soil moisture, including the use of radioactive isotopes. Development of a method for the rapid determination of the full moisture profile (from the surface to groundwater table) and potential of soil moisture. 1.1.4.2 Investigation of relationships controlling the movement of moisture and vapour in unsaturated top soil. 1.1.5 Ground water 1.1.5.1 Studies on recharge and changes of groundwater resources on representative and experimental areas.
