(58) struments of different types, and b ) measurement methods, c) to introduce, if possible, common methods of measurement or identical instruments, finally to determine correction factors with the aid of which conversion from results of one method of measurement to those arrived at by another method would be possible. 4. The question arose too, whether some formal organization would be necessary to assure the possibility of periodically organized hydrological conferences. Afterwards the President expressing his pleasure at the success of the Congress, thanked the foreign delegates for their active contributions and asked for comments on proposals. R. Petrovic (Yugoslavia) stressed the importance oi hydrographie cooperation. Nations ot the Danube Basin publish data on the Danube in different languages and spread about ; their collection would be necessary. There appears an excellent possibility of cooperation within the framework of the International Association of Scientific Hydrology. The International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics would probably willingly publish the material to be collected with the support of the UNESCO. Dr. W. Kresver (Ausztria) suggests that the Hungarian Academy of Sc. should make — in conclusion to the summarized report to be drafted on the Congress — a concrete proposal on close cooperation among the hydrologie services of the Danube countries. This proposal might be submitted by the delegates to their governments, which would be sure to accept them. Since cooperation in the Danube Basin would refer to local circumstances, this work would complete the activities of the I. A. S. H., but would be independent of it. He also suggested Budapest to be chosen for the seat of the organization. In the following years, every year or every two years conventions might be held in other countries to discuss the more important problems. According to C. Mateescu (Romania) because of the close relations of the countries of the Danube Valley the proposed scientific cooperation has long been necessary. It would be desirable that the proposal deal in detail with the organ of cooperation and contain also the draft of its statutes of operation. Upon question put by President E. Mosonyi the Congress unanimously decided to charge the organisational commitee to sum up the resolutions and to submit them to the Academy of Sc. for further measures to be taken. Closing the session he draws attention to the fact that the scientific work of hydrographie institutes is serving the case of water economy and with it that of peace. Water economy and the science of hydrology develops if all energies are assigned to peaceful construction. In the spirit of these thoughts he closed the Hydrographie Scientific Congress on the 70-th anniversary of the Hungarian Hydrographie Service. Papers read before the Congress and those sent in later are being published because of limitations on paper partly in this issue of Hydraulic Engineering, partly in Tom. XI X. Vol. 4. of Publications of the Engineering Section of the Hungarian Academy of Sc. These publications complete each other and cover the entire material.
