24 VIII. INFLUENCE OF THE FORCE AND VELOCITY OF WIND AND THE DIFFERENT SORTS OF AIR ON EVAPORATION. By DR. L. AUJESZKY. A brief view of the principles of meteorology, which renders it possible for us to estimate in advance the variations of the météorologie evaporating capacity in time and space, i. e. the momentary evaporating effect of the prevailing weather, and, on the other hand, the differences in the evaporation of surfaces under various climatic conditions. For this purpose the writer treats separately of the force and turbulency of wind. Then he deals with topographic, orographic and thermodinamic factors influencing the turbulency of wind, as well as with the statements of the theory on the different sorts of air, the close relation between the visual faculty and the phenomena of evaporation, furthermore with the effect of the same météorologie conditions on the behaviour of different evaporating surfaces. IX. SHORT ARTICLES. 1. Gölle-farming. By B. Kenessey. In the high mountains of Switzerland, Austria and Bohemia, where no cereals are produced, and consequently there is no litter-straw, the meadows and pasture-grounds are manured in the form of irrigation with the excreta of cattle diluted in water. 2. River-bed and bank. By A. Sikó. Drawing of river-bed and banks in situation plants and longitudinal sections is done in an undecided manner. Mr. Б Kenessey, as an expert in a law suit, defined, in his report, the conception of river-bed by giving an exact definition of the edge of the bank.
