való edényekre, máshol pedig késő rézkori szórványleletekre leltek. Találtak a bronzkor középső szakaszában, a Kr. e. 1500-1300 között élt „mészbetétes edények népére" utaló emlékeket is. A falura vonatkozó első írásos emlék 1251-ből származik, ahol a települést Zubugun néven említik, majd a Zebegnyő személynévből alakult tovább Zebegénnyé, majd végül Szebénnyé. A község majorjában a hatvanas években két hasonló, tégla víztorony épült.

Az 1963-ban épült nagyobbikat már lebontották, de az 1966-os kisebbik még megvan, sőt 1992-ig üzemelt is.

A mezőgazdasági üzem már tönkrement, így félő, hogy az egyszerű víztoronynak sincs már nagy jövője.

from the late copper-age. They found records referring to the existence of the so-called 'limestone pot people' living around the middle period of the bronze age, 1500-1300 BC. The first written record with reference to the village originates from 1251, where the settlement is mentioned as Zubugun, then from the name Zebegnyő it further developed to Zebegény, and finally it became Szebény. In the 1960s two similar brick water towers were built in the community farm. The bigger one, which was built in 1963, has already been demolished, but the smaller, built in 1966, still exists, moreover, it was operating until 1992. The agricultural plant has now fallen into disuse, so unfortunately, it is to be feared, that the remaining water tower has no future.
