A századfordulón a M. Kir. Államvasutak több munkás- és tisztviselőtelepet épített a dolgozói számára a főváros korabeli peremén, a vasútvonalak mellett. A Gyáli úti MÁV-telep egy 1896-ban keltezett helyszínrajza már telepszerű beépítést ábrázol.
