In morphology of the half sibs we can observe the influence of genotype of the parents. We will mention here the most interesting phenomena only (Table 4, Fig. 1). Both series of progeny fathered by Italian hybrid and non-hybrid males which had the same mother R. esculenta (crosses 15, 17) belonged to rldibund a phenotype, but their morphology is father different, which is clearly seen in the values for the ratios DP/CI which are significantly distinct (t = 4.894, p< 0.001, df = 12). Individuals fathered by Italian non-hybrid male N38 and mothered by five females (Table 4, crosses 7-10 and 14) belonged to two morphological phenotype. Froglets mothered by R. lessonae females had phenotype esculent a-like, and those mothered by R. rldibund a female (cross 14) had rather high value for DP/CI index, they resembled their mother. In both phenotypes in crosses 8 and 14 (Fig. 1) single individuals with typical R. lessona e appeared, and in one cross No. 12 all froglets were lessonae-like: they had a very large callus internus and a very short tibia (Plate I: Fig. 1). Sex ratio. We determined the sex of 849 individuals (Table 5), mostly tadpoles, on the basis of gonad shape (cf. BERGER 1971b); some of the smaller tadpoles had Intermediate gonads, and were not sexed. In crosses between Italian non-hybrids and R. lessonae, R. rldibunda , and R. esculent a (crosses 1-7), the' sex ratio among the progeny was approximately 1:1. At least one of the crosses involving R. perez i males (cross 8), however, had an excess of females (X 2 = 6.62, pCO.Ol, 1 df) among the progeny. All progeny fathered by Italian hybrids were females.
