Lao-cai, Prov. Lao-cai, November 26,1971, 200 m. a.s.l. The specimen was taken by a nylon net set up in a well watered narrow and short gully used as a kitchen garden of a hotel on the left bank of Red Ri­ver. The plantation made up mostly of banana and manioc with scattered clumps of bamboo. Culicicapa ceylonensis orientális BAKER. No. 155 Lao-cai, Prov. Lao-cai, 17 km to the south-east of |he town , November 29, 1971, 350 m. a.s.l. Netted in a rather closed, narrow valley, surrounded by 500-700 m high ranges with dense, apparently un­affected primary rain forest vegetation. Ianthia cyanur a PALLAS. No. 125 Lao-cai, Prov. The birds were collected by small mammals snap traps baited with nut, in a valley with brook in a mostly cut down forest with secondary bamboo thickets and dense under­growth on eastern slopes of hill range to the south-west of the village . Aethopyga siparaja seheriae TICKELL . No. 194 • Minh-xuan, Luc­yen Distr., Prov. Yen-bai, December 2, 1971, at about 300 m. a.s.l. Shot in a high and dense bamboo thicket near village houses at the edge of a well watered broad valley among karst hillocks .
