A terület védelem alá helyezésével e kívánatos feladatnak biztosítva vannak a jövőbeni feltételei. Date to the Mammalian and Fish Faunas of the Kardoskút Reservation By I. Sterbetz Hungarian Ornitological Institute, Budapest The Fehértó (Lake Fehér) near Kardoskut, a national reservation since February, 1966, is situated in the vicinity of Orosháza, SE Hungary. The habitat is a 3 km long and 50200 m wide natron lake, usually dry during high summer, its water 8,5-10 pH, surrounded by reeds, a Festucetum steppe, and some agricultural fields. In this semi-desert area, of extreme habitat-conditions, the author had eventually observed, during his ornithological investigations, the mammalian and fish species listed in the Hungarian text, in the years 1942-1965.
