Tóth, J. ; Rácz, B.: A new method of marking fish with a plastic (PVC) opercular tag 1-8. o.

In the mass-marking of fishes of the water-system of the Tisza, we had ample occasions to gain experiences concerning the applicability of the tag in freshwaters. Until now, we have used the tag to mark the following fish speciest Aclpenser ruthenu s, Es ox luciu s, Rutilus rutllu s, Leuciscus cephalu s. Leuciscus idu s, Scardinius erythrophthalmu s, Asplus aspiu s, Tinea tine a, Chondrostoma nasu s. Barbus barbu s, Blicca b.joerkn a, Abramis bram a, Abramis sap a, Abramis bal le ru s, Vimba vimb a, Garassius carassiu s, Garassius auratus glbeli o, Silurus glani s, Amlurus nebulosu 8, Lucloperca lucioperc a, Perça fluviatill s, Ac er ina cernu a, Acerina schraetse r . The tags remained in good state even in specimens recaptured after two months, and the fish suffered no injuries. Especially the Cyprinl d and Perei d species were found to be easily markable. The experimentally elaborated size - given on the Figure - assures its universal applicability, since the tag of the given size is suitable for the marking of various size of fish /over 10 cm/ of the most diverse species. On the basis of our experiences, we deem the method discussed above suitable for research purposes both in fishponds and freshwaters .
