Data to our Knowledge on the Hybrids of the Bream (Abramis brama L.) and the Roach (Rutilus rutilus L.) By L. Borinkay Zoological Department of the Hungarian National Museum, Budapest Author discusses his investigations on 4 hybrid specimens of Abramis bram a L. and Rutilus rutilu s L. Twenty specimens of each parental fish species, taken at random from the ICHTHYOLOGICAL COLLECTION OP THE HUNGARIAN NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM, have served for comparison purposes. Author establishes as the findings of his researches that, concerning the differences of the ten largest measurement ratios, the hybrids resemble the Roach in the case of three characters, the Bream with regard to one character, and they take an intermediate position with reference to the other six characters /Table I/. In the course of his osteological studies, author describes the shapes of the bones and refers to points of similarities drawn between the hybrids and the respective parental species. Author then gives a summary of the morphological and osteological characteristics in an arrangement per specimen in Table II.-III. He points out accordingly that,of the morphological characters, every hybrid has 3 Roach /1,11,14/ and 3 intermediate /2,9,12/ features as constant. Concerning either the number of occurrences /26/ or constancy ,the roach character is the morphologically dominant one. Of the osteological features listed, items 15 and 16 refer to all four, and all other ones refer to but two specimens. Values entered twice at items 25 and 34 designate the assertion of both parental characters found at different points of the same bone of the hybrid.
