PAGE 8 Verhovay Journal Buffalo, N. Y. to be 1956 Tournament City Continued from page 1 cago, Illinois, and the Deshler Hilton, Columbus, Ohio, or the Commodore Hotel, New York City. The Statier is a beautiful hotel with an atmosphere of “home away from home.” The bowling contests will unfold at the Airport Bowling Center, 3754 Genesee Street. There are 36 modern lanes in this new establishment and all are on ground level. A very unique feature is the A.M.F. AUTOMATIC PIN SPOTTERS, which will give us the first such conducted bowling tournament. Those who have enjoyed the advantages of such automatic pin spotters certainly can appreciate this forward and progressive move of the National Tournament Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. The building is air conditioned throughout and maintains the highest standard of cleanliness. Snack bars and other refreshment bars with comfortable lounges are conveniently located for bowlers and onlookers. Indeed one word — BEST — describes the place and its facilities. E is transportation for all the members shall be provided to and from the points — the hotel and the bowling alleys. Branch 383, under the leadership of President Joseph S. Taylor and District Manager Kalman J. Erdeky, will be the host branch. Already an atmosphere cf excitement and anticipation grips the tournament city. President Taylor has held several meetings, and additional ones will be held to form all the necessary committees so as to assure a smooth and successful tourney. The welcome mat shall be spread out by the members of Buffalo and vicinity. Branches 290, Depew, New York, and 84, Lackawanna, New York, will participate in greeting and welcoming our fellow members from the many parts of the country. Auditing Committee Member Andrew Bandy of Depew has indicated very strong support for the tournament. The Rules and Regulations of the tournament are printed elsewhere in this issue. The National Tournament Executive Committee calls attention to the fact that ail our bowlers should have some suitable insignia displayed, showing the new name of the society — WILLIAM PENN — and the branch number and location. This change in insignia from Verhovay to William Penn is necessary because of the change of name of the organization and the merger. The tournament dates selected are May 12—13, 1955, Saturday and Sunday. These dates were the only ones available, yet they will please many of our bowlers who for years asked for earlier bowling dates. The team events will be held first, with the doubles and singles to follow the team events. The Victory Dinner-Dance with special entertainment, will be held Saturday evening, May 12. The Board of Directors named the following officers to the National Tournament Executive Committee: John Sabo, National Auditor and Tournament-Fellowship Days Administrator, Dr. Andrew Kovács, Albert Ibos and Gabriel Czernai, Directors.
