American Hungarian Federation Christmas Seals Now in the Mail I *»56 (Continued on page 5) A beautiful Christmas seal, commemorating Janos Hunyadi, Hungarian Statesman and Warrior who exactly 500 years ago saved Western Civilization when he stopped the onslaught of the mighty TuTks, has been designed for the American Hungarian Federation and is now being offered to Hungarian Americans and friends throughout the United States of America. The seal was designed by Gabriella Koszorús, well-known artist of Washington, D. C. Her artistic abilities have gone back over the many years and have given us a grand recollection of the exploits of the great Janos Hunyadi astride his white horse, with sword drawn for action to save Western Civilization from the superior in number and cruel Turks. This year, 1956, is the 500th anniversary of Hunyadi’s battles against the powerful Turkish forces, and his final victor over them at Nándorfehérvár. Ever since this magnificent victory for the Magvar forces bleedins- to preserve Western Civilization, the churches throughout Europe have caused their bells to toll in reverent memory. Three million copies of this Christmas seal have been printed in beautiful colors to enhance the attraction of all Christmas mail and packages. The proceeds of the sale of these seals will go to the American Hungarian Federation to benefit Hungarian Americans. The American Hungarian Federation, as is well-known, is the clearing-house for the Hungarian churches, fraternal societies, social clubs and newspapers. The Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association is affiliated with the American Hungarian Federation and takes an active part in helping Hungarians everywhere. The members of our Association are requested to donate freely to this noble cause and .to use the Hunyadi Christmas seals on all their Christmas envelopes and packages. The contributions that our members make will aid Hungarian Americans in 1956 just as Janos Hunyadi helped the Hungarians and saved Western Civilization in 1456.
