BRANCH 15 — CHICAGO, ILL. By: Ernest C. Taylor, District Mgr. SENTINEL Michael Simo Given Important Assignment Another month has gone and now we are in the month of March. The warm spring air is beginning- to pervade the atmosphere as the bowling- season nears its end. Some enthusiasts, both men and women, are lalready looking- with fond eyes at their fishing and golf equipment. Yes, spring is in the air — and in the hearts of people. I am happy to report that the dance held for the benefit of the bowlers was a success. We shall have a very good representation of our bowlers, at the tournament. It is my hope that we be able to enter about Ö5 teams for the great event. Let us do our very best to keep the trophy here in the Windy City. Our return match with the South Bend crew of Field Supervisor Frank Wukovits was to take place March 5th at the Lakeview in the downstairs alieys. The results of the. match — a party was included after the games — will appear in the next article. One by one our vacationing members are returning. Mr. and Mrs. Louis C. Fodor have come back from, Arizona, looking fine. Joseph Hollerbach, our kindly undertaker, has returned from Florida. How is Tony Lachman, Mr. Höllerbach? Back too iare the Edward Tricka-s from their tour of the sunny climes. I hope that all our vacationer-s are well rested and ready for greater things here at Branch 15. Mr. Höllerbach and his son Joe. by the way, are opening a new funeral parlor on Elston Avenue, just north of Irving- Park Road. Much success to the new establishment. I am sorry to report the death of Paul Tarr, Sr. who lived for many /years .on Carroll Avenue. The deceased was the father of Paul Tarr. In the sick department are John Gyulai, Joseph Ivan, and Mrs, Joseph Toth who suffered a broken wrist in a fall on an icy pavement. John Demeter, the north side janitor, is again in good health. The stork has been busy among our members. The old bird left a package of twin boys to the Fred Krueger-s and a son to Fred’s sister, Pauline Marci. The bowling- * team that yours truly is a member of, and on occasion helps it win a_ game or two, had a special match with our sponsor’s (Sig’s Lounge) other team. We did quite well in defeating them. Our team consists of Andrew (the janitor) Janovits, Marthy (the roofer) Igyarto, Paul (the g-rave stone carver) Tarr, George (the carpenter) Sabik and Ernie (the insurance man) Taylor. Mr. Charles (the cement contractor) Stuparits is the sponsor cf three teams in the Monday night Moose League at River Grove, Illinois. All his teams are very close to the top in the league standings, In fact Team #1 is leading the leag-ue. Keep it up, Men, and let’s win Charlie a sponsor’s trophy. On Saturday night, the 26th of February, we attended a pork supper (disznótoros) held by the local Rákóczi Sick Benefit Society. I am proud of the impressive representation by the officers and members of Branch 15 at this affair. Now I begin reminding you good members that the date to mark on your calendars is MAY 7th. This is the date of our Annual Spring Dance held at the Lions Hall. Also, start your planning now for our June Picnic. which will be held the LAST SUNDAY at the White House Grove in Schiller Park, Illinois.--------------------------A good idea is one that strikes the. other fellow like a bolt of lightning a year or two after you told it to him. ______J '3 ---------These days before a person can rise to the upper crust he's got to make plenty of dough. Apparently some people took this to mean the largest turnöut at the tournament. This is not true as some of the big cities will have a larger number of teams participating. What I should have said was that branch 296 will have the largest turnout thus far in the history of Branch 296. There will be a total of seven teams participating, four men’s and three women’s teams.
