The dance will be held in April, date to be known by the next copy of the Journal — at the 69th Street church We hope to be able to send several teams to Chicago, so we are counting on ail of you to g-ive them a boost,, and help yourselves to a good time Please support us in this effort; we should have a gay time. More on this subject next month. Meanwhile, watch your mail for a special meeting of great importance to be held, most likely, in March, as this .shall be the meeting for t ie electing of delegate’, to the convention. I’m sure y ou want to vote. I do hope you all have a real nice St. Valentine’s day, and I hope I myself have a few out there. I must go now. Don’t think typing with fu - lined gloves on has been easy’ Wo, with a hi and a ho, are off to the. course. Fraternally yours, MARGIE NEMETH 199-13 26th Avenue Bayside 58, New York Bayside 4-4399 POWER CITY NEWS SPRINGDALE, PA, AND VICINITY by Edward A. MattieBranch 296 For the past several years the Power City Barber Shop in Springdale has been operated by two personable brothers, Dimitri (Jimmy) and Alex Novickoff. Since their opening, the reputable work of these two barbers has grown to such proportions that it has been necessary to make a few changes in their shop. In order to give patrons the best service with the least amount of waiting, a third barber, Pete Dubac, has been added. The men will find this additional service particularly convenient. Through the talents of Jimmy Novickoff, who is a trained hair stylist and a member of Branch 296, it is has been necessary to add an exclusive department for women, specializing in hair cutting and scalp treatments. Jimmy’s reputation for being able to execute the latest hair styles is fast becoming known throughout the valley. If you wish to have a hair style created to your liking and to compliment your personality, then Jimmy is the man to see. If you wish to have a style that is worn by son.e famous personality, or from the latest fashion magazine, .or right out of Vogue magazine, Jimmy can expertly execute that style for you. For those women who need regular scalp treatments, the latest scientific methods are available. The Novickoff brothers are third generation barbers, Jimmy has had European training, with emphasis on Russian and French training. The men and women of this organization will receive satisfaction by visiting the Power City Barber Shop which is located across the Packard automobile dealer on Pittsburgh Street, near Colfax in Springdale. * * * * On Friday, January 28th, the Branch 296 Mixed Ten Pin League held a Mardi Gras ball. The affair was fairly well attended but the bad weather and road conditions acted as a slight damper. However, all who attended had a pleasant time. * * * Until this month, there has been dancing at the Verhovay Home every Saturday night. But now, on a trial basis, there will be dancing- every Friday night also. The members and their guests are cordially invited to attend these Friday and Saturdav night affairs. » * It looks as though Branch \v ill have the largest turnout thus far at the Verhovay National Bowling Tournament to be held in Chicago. The event is held yearly over the Memorial Day week end. Transportation will probably be by chartered bug. There may be room for a few more people who would care to attend this affair. If so, they should make their intentions known as soon as possible.
