Invitation to Every Verhovay Member to Attend December Branch Meeting The National Officers of the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association sincerely request each member to attend the very important branch meeting which will take place during the month of December. Action is to be taken on the proposed new Bylaws, as amended by the Board of Directors; branch officers are to be elected for the ensuing year; delegates to the 1955 District Sessions will also be elected. Revisions of the Bylaws and Election of the District Delegates This month, November, we sent to every branch the new Bylaws formulated by the Board of Directors. The serious task of the December branch meeting- will be to discuss and adopt the Bylaws. If the majority of the members vote to accept the amendments, the amended Bylaws shall, after the Convention’s approval, go into effect on January 1, 1956. We kindly request the acceptance of these modified Bylaws since these amendments shall serve the best interest of the organization. Revisions are necessitated by changing insurance laws, requirements of the insurance departments, and by changing economic conditions. EVERY BRANCH must decide on the Bylaws, even those that constitute an individual Convention District (400 or more adult members). We sincerely request all the members to attend the December meetings, so that a large percentage render judgment on the amendments. As soon as the vote is completed, the branch officers shall immediately forward the results, using the blanks provided, to the Home Office. Also, at the December meetings, those branches having fewer than 400 members must determine who will represent them as delegates at the District Sessions. Alternates must also be elected. Branches having adult members of 400 or more shall elect their delegates to the Convention at the regular District Meeting to be held in 1955 after due notice from the Home Office. Every branch consisting of at least 25 adult members has the right to send one delegate to the District Sessions. Branches with larger memberships shall elect district delegates according to the following ratio: 25 to 199 members — one district delegate 200 to 299 members — two district delegates 300 to 399 members — three district delegates Therefore, at the December meeting this key is to be followed in electing delegates and alternate delegates to the District Sessions: The Bylaws give in detail the qualifications necessary to be a delegate. Here we mention the following points: To be a delegate a member must be an American citizen, must be 21 years of aye on or before the day of the elections, and must have at least a one thousand dollar certificate which has been in force for at least two years. Every branch will receive notification as to how many delegates and alternates the particular branch may choose. According to our Bylaws, the' results of the election are to be sent to the Home Office immediately after the elections. For the given reasons above, the December meetings are most important. Therefore, we repeat that every member should be present. The new Bylaws and the election of the district delegates are two highly important matters, and every member should participate in these decisions. Buy Hungarian Christmas Seals Now Rákóczi Seals Have Already Been Forwarded to Members 12,000 members of the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association have received sheets of the above-pictured new Hungarian Christmas Seal. It is unfortunate that we could not send every member a sheet of these artistically-designed Rákóczi Christmas Seals because Verhovay was allotted only the above-mentioned number. Members who would like to have some of these seals should write immediately to John Sabo, National Auditor (who is also National Treasurer of the American Hungarian Federation), 43t> Fourth Avenue, Pittsburgh 19, Pennsylvania. The following letter was sent to the 12,000 Verhovay members receiving the Christmas Seals: HEAR MEMBER: The Christmas Season is the most appropriate time for us to spread good cheer, a time for us to rejoice, and a time for us to bring glad tidings to one and all, especially to our members. This year’s medium for doing all this is the new Hungarian Christmas Seal, which memorializes a great Magyar statesman, Francis Rákóczi II. The use of these seals on all Christmas greeting cards, even on your Regular letters, will spread the cheer that is so vital to a happy Holiday Season* and will be the bearer of glad tidings to one and all that we should rejoice, for CHRIST IS BORN! We enclose these seals with the hope and request that you put them to work for you in spreading the Season’s good cheer. Your help will be a valuable contribution to the American Hungarian Federation, the official representative body of the Hungarians living in the United States of America. Please place your contribution, large or small, in the enclosed selfaddressed, stamped envelope and forward it today to: Hungarian Christmas Headquarters, American Hungarian Federation, Washington. D. C. The blessing of God shall certainly be yours for your help and good will. Please accept our sincere thanks and our best ivishes, for a very joyful Christmas Season.
