Ivancso gw El[gMMa®^SE^P^S!SiaBBl[«H®BBgES!B![g!tgaaS!Slgíil?<®;ítjS;5tjg!S!asig]g:aasiiaHa3 Hello! This being our first report to the Verhovay Journal, we will try to give some news of our fellow members and of our travels. Our Fellowship Days are now a month old, but we have many pleasant memories that we brought home with us from *ew York City. Our singles champion, William “Rip” Tinta, is one true champion who will not forget the tournament — starting out with 7 straight strikes, getting tapped on the next ball, missing the spare, and then striking out for a total of 256 — the highest single game of the tournament. “Rip” also has another memory — on the return trip home, he stopped at one of Howard Johnson’s restaurants on the Turnpike — and there he left his new Bulova wrist watch. The Toledo bowlers would like to thank Marge Nemeth for her wonderful job in making the Verhovay Fellowship Days a Success — in spite of all the razzing that our boys gave her! Toledo has been represented in the Verhovay tournaments for two consecutive years, and we are proud to report that we have had a champion each year. We’re building a surprise for next year’s bowling tournament — another champion! I was in Pittsburgh the middle of June for a meeting with the National Officers and the field force. After having talked with the office force, one’s administrative duties are made easier by their knowledge and assistance. June 27 was the day in which outsecond annual picnic was held — a nice crowd was on hand and the success of the picnic can be attributed to the wonderful cooperation of our bowlers and fellow members. We must not forget the ladies who Worked in the kitchen all day — preparing the delicious food for our picnickers. Many thanks to Mrs. .Julia Toth, Mrs. Frank Ivancso, Mrs. John Yanco, Mrs. Julius Vargo, Mrs. Charles Aszalós, Mrs. Andrew Rasi, Mrs. Joseph Hornyak, Mrs. Dorothy Feyes, Mrs. Paul Lajti, Mrs. Stephen Mandli and daughter Patricia, Mrs. Frank Veres, Mrs. John Simon, Mrs. Dick Sendi and Mrs. Mary Ivancso. Rev. Alexander Pinter, Rev. Emery Szeleny, and Dr. Géza Farkas, editor of the Hungarian Newspaper, “Toledo,” were there. As I am writing this, our 4th of July holiday week end is here. This being a national holiday, in Toledo this is a very significant day. Our fellow member and pastor of St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, Monsignor Elmer Eordogh, celebrated his 79th birthday! Happy birthday Monsignor Eordogh! We wish to welcome to our organization the following new members: Richard Nagy, Bill Curry, Joseph Zabrosky, Hazel Vischer, Mrs. Louis Cherko and daughters Barbara Ann and Louise, Timothy and Judith Ann Kubiak, Stephen M. Gall, Jr. I have a short story to tell you concerning Bill Curry — our only left-handed bowler. A few years back, just before the start of the bowling season, Julius Vargo, Dick Sendi and Bill, and yours truly, were warming up. Since it was the first time out, Bill was a little on the rusty side. After bowling four games, with a small jackpot as an inducement (which Bill was losing), his son stood up from the back row of seats and said, “Hey, Dad, why don’t you pick on your own size ? Why don’t you bowl against bowlers that you can beat?” We have yet to see the boy around a bowling alley since that evening! I shall put away my typewriter. Your comments will be very much appreciated. Do you like our stories, do you have any events that you would like to have our readers know about? If so, do not hesitate to write to me. Many thanks!
