Mattie Branch 296 With the bowling season just a few weeks away, the time has again arrived to reorganize the Verhovay Bowling League. The bowling league is open to both men and women members of Branch 296. Last year there were four teams in the league. And indications are that for the coming season there is a great possibility that there will be six teams. Any members who are interest in bowling ten-pins should notify the league president, Mrs. Walter Wesoloski, or Edward Mattie. A one dollar entry fee will be charged to each bowler. The Verhovay Mixed League bowls on Sunday afternoons. This makes it very convenient for husbands and wives, especially, to devote their time once a week to bowling. CONGRATULATIONS To Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kish upon the arrival of a daughter, Violet Sue. This is the fifth one in the Kish family, all girls! And to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fintor upon the birth of their first child, a girl. The newcomer has been named Shelley Ann. MISCELLANEOUS Alex Üveges has returned from service in Korea and is now stationed at Fort Meade, Md. awaiting discharge. Arthur Lodi has left for Korea. He is with the Army. Birthday greetings to Joe Wislie, Jr. and to Joe Balash. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wislie and daughter, Barbara, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Dudzinski and sons spent some time at their Luck Penny Cottage. Walter Wesoloski and son, Butch, and Joe Bodnar spent a week at their cottage near Lake Erie. Later in the week Mrs. Wesoloski, Joseph Wislie, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wislie, Jr. and daughter joined them for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Mathabel made a fishing trip to Erie. But all they caught was á bad case of sun burn. William Kay and family vacationed in Baltimore, Md. Nick Polombo is still wearing a cast on his broken leg. He is getting along fine. The Members of Branch 296 extend their deepest sympathies to the family of William Vargo who passed away on August 5th at the Veterans Hospital, Aspinwall, Pa.
