AND VICINITY by Edward A. Mattie Branch 296 First, I would like to report that the dance and chicken supper held February 28 was very successful. The music of Arthur Nagy and his orchestra was g-rand, and the members had a very enjoyable time. The chicken supper again was a complete sell-out. The Ladies’ Auxiliary will hold a supper every month on the fourth Saturday, when Arthur Nagy and his orchestra will appear. COMING EVENTS The newly organized Entertainment Committee held its first meeting on Friday, February 27. A very interesting discussion was held on (the creating of activities for the membership at the Verhovay Home. The committee decided to try having an orchestra each Saturday after Lent. To start the post-Lenten season, Che orchestra of Merle McKay has been engaged to play on April 11 and 18. On April 25 Arthur Nagy and his orchestra will be» at the Home. Then on May 2 Merle McKay’s orchestra will again play. The continuance of the orchestra on Saturday nights will depend on ithe number of members appearing at the Home on these nights. So come on, Members, and have a good time. And don’t forget to bring ,your friends with your Another activity that the Entertainment Committee hopes will meet with the approval of the members is having a card party once a week.
