It is symbolic of the time to get ready, for the long cold months ahead, by gathering the harvest to replenish the shelves in preparation for any eventuality. A LITTLE MORE JOY. Joy is a constituent of life—a necessity of life. It is an element of life’s value and life’s power. As every man has need of Joy, so too every man has a right to Joy. It is indispensable to the health of the body. It is necessary to physical and (spiritual industry. It is a condition of righteous living. Yep, I read the above some place and I thought it was nice. Gabriel Molnár donated eight dozen of corn to the Verhovay Sports Club speck fry at Chagrin Valley Beach. Thanks, Gabe. The new picnic» spot •is extremely nice, plenty of room, picnic tables, swimming spot, swings for the children, etc. The usual crowd of the old stand-bys were out, among /them “Doc” Piscalko, Ted Beres and his charming wife, Sandy and Melvina Hegedűs, John and Betty. Knapp, Frank and Helen Oravis with their children Virginia and Patty. Yep, little Patty is cute, just 2 years old. To continue: Oscar Federau, Joe Kish, Joseph Konder and his wifei Mary, awl Joe (Flattop) Gulyas. It was a lovely party, and Committee Chairman Frank Oravis did much of all the work. Mrs. Goldie Molnár, a member of either 361 or 366, complained that she doesn’t receive the English issue./ of our Journal. Please, Editor, try: Ao remedy this. (The matter will be jtaken care of immediately.—Ed.). How about a club or organization called the “Christian Sons and Daughters of Hungary?” Lest we forget, Yours Truly, Joseph J. Horvath, is running for State Representative this coming November 4th. All citizens living in- Cuyahoga County, State of Ohio, may exercise their prerogative to vote. Here’s hoping I am not forgotten. Thanks for anything our members and friends may do for me. We heard that a ball cleaner and (an electric eye would be installed at/ the Verhovay alleys. Just lovely. Gene Toth, manager of St. John’s Hall, is cooperating with the manager of Verhovay Hall. Both places have four alleys. Gene Toth and Nick Yuhas have been working hard lining up teams, backers and bowlers for their respective halls, and I know that they will be successful because they are both good men. Cal Karnya, manager of the Business & Tradesmen Club, will try to (establish a Sunday mixed league. If •the managers of these bowling emporiums would get together, a traveling league could be established, which would be a fine thing for Sunday nites. Betty Knapp said that she and her' husband, John, and Steve Vache, another sports club member, would go fishing, that they would donate the fish and french fries to a Verhovay Sports Club fish fry so we could increase the treasury. It looks like no free shindigs this year. The sports club changed their meeting date from the third Wednesday of the month to the third Sunday, till next April, then on summer schedule again. Carl Pertz was entertaining his Carl Jr. last month when he came home on a leave from the Ai'my. We looked over the Verhovay bazaar and were quite pleased- The yard was clean, plenty of booths, delicious Hungarian fánk and kolbász, many door prizes, courteous (people working at the booths, and a very attractive program. An auspicious start indeed. This should be repeated next year and every year hereafter. The winner of the auto will be announced in the next issue. Until then . . . Ex Animo, JOSEPH J. HORVATH c. o.
