HORVATH — Cleveland, O. 1 ■ V ■ ■Bill................■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■BBSHBai Welcome, Verhovay bowlers, to our great State of Ohio! Permit me a moment of pleasure. We love our state. This is our home, our native land. You’ll understand, natives of other states, how we feel. Good luck and good health to each and every Verhovay member and bowler. In our estimation the Verhovay bowlers are tops-champions and sportsmen. Let’s keep it that way, Men and Women of Verhovay. Congratulations to our home Branch 14 upon their 50th birthday anniversary May 25, 1952. We heard that Paul Bolesie was in Doctors Hospital with a back ail- j ment. He is now recuperating at home under the loving care of his | wife and children. Cal Karnya is the new manager j of the Business and Tradesmen Club Steve Bresnayak, manager of St. John’s, is leaving there in a month or so. Frank Oravis, backer of the Buckeye Window Cleaning Company bowling team, is also a racing(enthusiast. He is racing at Gregs Dam on the Scioto River about ten miles north of Columbus, Ohio, on June 1, 1952, right after the bowling tournament. Anybody who may stay in Columbus that Sunday has | the opportunity to cheer a Verhovay member. This is a dangerous J sport, but Frank likes it. Nick Yuhasz, Jr. is a salesman for Kilby Home Renovating Systemvacuum cleaners and furniture. The Marsons are having a new home built in Maple Heights, Ohio. Good luck to Joe and Florence in their new home. Florence captured the handicap tournament cup with Jake Torda a runner-up. This tournament was sponsored by the Verhovay Sports Club-everything free to members only. Look out for Ann Pinter at the tournament. She throws a “wicked” hook. We watched her one evening. She scored a 203 game. Joseph Kadar, our probation officer, and official greeter at- the Cleveland tournament, will be in Columbus... So will Bela Balogh, one of Cleveland’s better bowlers... A1 Stofeho, one time city champion... Gene Toth, maker of war tanks... Steve Szekely, boss at the waterworks ... A1 Gamin, owner of the Colony Bowling Alleys and other enterprises. . . Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bodnar and their son Jimmy who is bowling with us. .. Helen Oravis, who might surprise everyone. She has improved . . . Joseph Semetko, president of the Sports Club. .. George Kontur, one of Cleveland’s best welders . .. Joseph Nagy, a proud papa . .. Sigismund Jfadar, politico par excellence-a real friend in need .. . John Górta . . . Paul Fodor . . . and of course the 366ers, 361er& and the ladies from the Social Club . . . many others too numerous to mention. The Sports Club meeting was changed from Sundays to the 3rd Wednesday of dvery month till September, when we go back to our Sunday schedule. New members sworn in by Anthony Pinter were Matyas Beres and Hricko . .. the last gentleman is (an undertaker. . . what a grim, thought. John Knapp invited .each and every one of the members to his yacht basin in Rocky River, Ohio to learn fishing. Steve Vache, also a fisher, warns that drinking and boating do not mix. The membership drive is now closed. But anyone may come in as an associate member ... no voting privileges. I personally want to thank each and every one who attended the card party in my honor Saturday, May 3rd. And I want to congratulate Frank Oravis for a good job. William Torda of Branch 366 said 'that he will write up the tournament. A. fine writer, and we hope he’ll keep it going. Bowling- party at Verhovay given by the Verhovay home to its bowlers Sunday, May 4th. A buffet lunch was set and after n little refreshment everybody ate. Trophies were handed out by Jimmy Kovach, president of Branch 14, Leslie J. Dus, manager of Branch 14, and Joseph Semetko, president1 of the Verhovay Sports Club. Backers introduced were Slugo Cafe, Molnár Meat, and Frank Oravis of the Buckeye Window Cleaners. Nicholas Yuhas, manager of the Verhovay home, celebrated his birthday at the bowling party. Mr. Papp, of Papp’s Bar. 4150 Lorain, ia real close friend, brought over a gypsy orchestra to serenade Mr. Yuhas. Everybody sang “Happy Birthday.” A pleasant party. Ag-ain, before I close, good luck and good health, and may your scores be large, ycur splits few, and in spite of any reverses, let's remain sportsmen and sportswomen. Ex Animo, JOSEPH J. After the nuptials the happy pair, their families and friends, celebrated in an exclusive place in Rochelle Park. The newlyweds w'ere toasted repeatedly by their guests and were showered with many beautiful gifts. To add to the delights of the occasion, the highly reputed Feri Panyko orchestra thrilled the wedding- party with their beautiful Magyar melodies. Mr. and Mrs. Geary left for Florida to spend their honeymoon in that tropiclike wonderland. They will return to live at 9 Sherman Street, Passaic. The bride is the daughter of Ladislaus Miko who for many years was president of Branch 87. Verhovay Seen In Four Generations ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR! Yes, that’s how many generations of Verhovay members you are looking at. Of course they’re all related. Gi-eat-grandmother Mrs. Alexander Papp is beaming as she holds her intent looking great-grandj daughter, baby Deborah Stepien, on I her lap. Behind the two “greats” are Mrs, Patrick Pone, the grandmother, on the left, and Mrs. Stanley Stepien-, the mother, to the right. All are members of Branch 13, Trenton, New Jersey. Mrs. Papp was formerly a member of Branch 59, Scalp Level, Pennsylvania, of which branch Director Louis Vizi is president. She and her late husband were charter members of Branch 59. It’s inspiring to see a Verhovay continuation like this. It’s the way it should be.
