“100 NEW MEMBERS!”. ] SAYS COLUMBUS BRANCH Branch 129 Aims High but Is Confident February 20. 1952____________________________VerhoüOy i Branch 129 is very happy that Columbus, Ohio has been chosen as the setting for Verhovay’s next national bowling tournament. The selection of Columbus presents a challenge to the branch as a whole and to all its individual members. The successful conclusion of the tournament will depend to a fair measure on how Branch 129 prepares for the great event and how7 much cooperation it will lend during the tournament itself. We at Branch 129 assure the tournament officers, the bowling teams and all our fellow members and friends who are contemplating taking in the coming big event that we will do everything within our power to help make this tournament the tournament of all Verhovav tournaments. Our members have the will, the desire and are keenly anticipating the important Verhovay date — May 30-31, 1952. We are indeed happy about the whole thing. Our individual enthusiasm is an inspiration, and we feel that this kind of sincere willingness can not peter out without first the attainment of our goal. Humbly we inform you that we do have the stuff to assist the tournament officers in their design to carry through a smooth program at the 1952 Verhovay Bowling Tournament. But our lofty aims do not end here. Branch 129 has pledged itself to the attainment of 100 new- members between now and May 30-31, 1952, the days when Verhovay members from over all the nation will gather together to participate in the im- I Election of officers was held at Branch 383 at its December meeting. Chosen to head the affairs of the branch for 1952 were Joseph S. Taylor, President; Charles Young, Vice-President and Controller; Joseph Szallar, Jr., Recorder. Tiberius D. Jasz, District Manager, continues as Manager of Branch 383. His business address is 46 Laird Avenue and the telephone is RI 1888. The office is open for business 7 to 9 Tuesday and Friday, 1 to 5 Thursday, 10 to 1 on Saturday. Regular monthly meetings are held -the second Tuesday, 7:00 P. M., in the school hall at 1035 Grant Street. It was wedding bells in December for Helen Chontos, 183 Girard Avepressive annual Verhovay bowling tournament. “100 New Members!” Yes, that is our slogan. And we are already working hard to reach that figure in new7 members at Branch 129. Our hopes are high and we sincerely feel that if we Branch 129-ers do our very best then attainment of that numerical goal is within the realm of possibility. It does require earnest effort, but then we had that in mind when we made our decision. How better can we reciprocate the many benefits which have come to Verhovay through the long years of faithful and conscientious service by National President John Reneze and National Secretary Coloman Revesz than by presenting to them the names of the 100 new' members, when they are honored the evening of May 31st? That will be Branch 129‘s tribute to the two leaders. Such a tribute by other branches w ould be equally appealing to Messrs. Bencze and Revesz. It would be wonderful if each branch would be able to say: “Mr. Bencze and Mr. Revesz: In vour honor and because we know it will please you more than any other tribute, we are happy to inform you that Branch ... wrote up... members during the Bencze- Revesz Anniversary New Membership Campaign.” It was decided at our January 9, 1952 meeting to send flowers to our hospitalized members. However, this may be done only if information is given to the branch manager. Again: “100 New Members!” Fraternally, David George Manager nue, Kenmore, Ohio who became the bride of Stephen Varga of Youngstown, Ohio. The couple are residing in Youngstown. Best^f luck! Michael Koszta 64 MAY THEY REST IN PEACE Forty-Three Members Id This Family It has been called to our attention by Mr. Joseph Szabó, Manager of Branch 443, that in the membership of his branch there is a family numbering 43 members. Mr. Szabó feels that publication of this worthy fact in the Verhovay Journal will spur on the Bencze-Revesz Anniversary New Membership Campaign to greater efforts and to greater successes, because thiq' revelation of 43 members is an inspiration to be emulated. The Louis Korponai Family, including the children and the in-laws, are the group who have this envious record of 43 members among three generations. To cite some of the numbers constituting the 43. son-in law Stephen Orris heads 10 members, another son-in-law Murray McLaughlin has 11 in the Verhovay orbit, a third son-inlaw claims 3, and son Louis Korponai, Jr. 10. What can we deduce from the Korponai Family and its allied members? The Korponai Household by their large membership in Verhovay demonstrate graphically the working faith they have in our organization. Together they enjoy the fruits of Verhovay fraternalism and reap the harvest of its sundry benefits. , Their oneness in Verhovay is an inspiring message to all Verhovay members that families should not be 50% or 75% Verhovay in their membership, not even 00%, BUT 100%!! In this latest membership drive let our field supervisors, district managers and branch managers strive with an aggressive enthusiasm to secure more Verhovay FAMILIES — 100% Verhovay families. GEORGE KUCHARIK Baby George Kucharik was just one day old when this photograph was taken. Judging from his passive pose, obviously he cared not a whit whether or not the picture w7as made. Anyway coming from a long line of Verhovay members Geiorge has the unique distinction; of being a fourth generation Verhovay. And that’s something. George will some day boast about his Verhovay lineage! Contributing to George’s fourth generation status are his great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Horvath; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Kelemen; and his mother, Mrs. George S. Kucharik. All are members of Branch 159, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. The human mind has an entrance and an exit. The exit is much larger. We should all be perfect if we were neither men nor women. It seems as if wre kept part of that happiness which we gave away. An individualist is a man whose wife is away for a few days.
