Evaluating the, fine accomplishments of the National Execut ive Committee j! the Verhovay National Ten-Pin Tournament, National President John bencze, at a special meeting with his fellow-officers, announced that he will proclaim MAY 30-31, 1952, “NATIONAL VERHOVAY FELLOWSHIP DAYS.” The National Officers of cur Association have decided to make our 9*.h Annual Verhovay National Bowling- Tournament the biggest and best in the history of our Association. They also decided to make ft possible for all Verhovay members, especially the non-bowlers, to participate in this outstanding national affair of our Association. It is the intention of the National Officers that as many Verhovay members as possible take part in this grand event. Whether a member bowls or not, does not make any difference: our national bowling tournaments have become more than just bowling tournaments, they have become Verhovay Fellowship Days where bowlers and nonhowlers get together to enjoy each other’s fellowship and to have fun in the best fraternal style. EVERYBODY WANTS TO GO TO COLUMBUS! The enthusiasm and satisfaction expressed by our members after reading the first accounts of the bowling tournament plans has reached an all-time high. Never before in our history has there been such general interest', in a bowling tournament or any other social event. The National Executive Committee already has received innumerable letters from members inquiring about the tournament plans. And the surprising thing is the large number of inquiries received from non-bowlers who would like to make the trip to .Cplumbqs to witness the bowling tournament and to participate in .he social activities. In response to this great interest, tlie National 'Executive Commit-'’ tee is making plans for the entertainment of not only our fine bowlers but .als® thousands of non-bowlers. And that is the reason why National President John Bencze has decided to proclaim May 30-31, 1952, the days of our 9th Annual Verhovay National Ten-Pin Tournament, “National Verhovay Fellows-hip Days!” Yes, indeed, it seems like everybody wants to go to Columbus . . .! SPECIAL WEEK-END TOURS Flans already have been made in Pittsburgh to sponsor a special week-end tour to Columbus, O., on the days of the Verhovay’s big national conclave. As many buses as will be needed will be chartered to transport the members and friends of the Verhovay from this area to ‘Verhovay’s Fellowship Convention’ in Columbus. Letters have been mailed to each branch requesting similar action wherever warranted by the interest of the local membership, [f every large Verhovay center will charter buses to transport members to Columbus, the tournament and its attendant social events may well be attended by as many as five thousand people! Special rates may be obtained from the bus companies and the round-trip can be made at very reasonablei prices which will give all those who participate an excellent chance to visit the ‘Friendly City,’ Columbus, Ohio. VERHOVAY CARAVAN FROM DAYTON Word already reached us that the City of Dayton, 0., which is the largest Verhovay center in the neighborhood of Columbus, will send a large caravan to- the tournament in Columbus. We have been informed by former director .John P. Kelemen, editor-publisher of the ‘Daytoni Híradó’ that many hundreds of Verhovay members will make the trip from Dayton to Columbus to take! part in the two-day Verhovay National Holiday. The wholehearted cooperation, of the Verhovay leaders in Dayton with editor Kelemen will help make our affair an even greater success than anticipated. NATION-WIDE MEMBERSHIP DRIVE TO RUN WITH COLUMBUS CAMPAIGN As previusly announced, Branch 129 of Columbus, 0., launched an intensive membership campaign. I; is their intention to have at least One-Hundred new members signed up between the time the National Executive Tournament^ Committee first visited the Tournament City and the day of the National Tournament. National President John Bencze has instructed Field Supervisor Gabriel Nameth of Yroungstown, O., to work together with the Columbus branch with a view ;o have them attain their splendid aim. At the same time, it is announced that in line with the proclamation of May 30-31, 1952, as National Verhovay Fellowship Days, a nation-wide membership drive is being launched in conjunction with the 9th Annual Verhovay Ten-Pin Tournament. In recognition of the many years of loyal service rendered to our Association by National President John Bencze and National Secretary Coloman Revesz, these two gentlemen will be specially honored by our Association at the festivities on Saturday night. May 31st, in the Crystal Ball Room of Hotel Deshler-Wallick where the Tournament Ball will be held. In keeping with our tournament tradition, however, the leaders of the Association do not intend to honor these two National Officers with long and pretty speeches but rather wi.h a definite increase in the membership INSIDE DESHLER-WALLICK HOTEL Those who plan to make the 1952 Verhovay Bqwling Tournament part of a second honeymoon, will find in Deshler-Wallick Hotel the most suitable and romantic environment.
