BRANCH 164 — CHICAGO, ILL — SENTINEL By: ANDREW JANOVJCS, Manager i Oh; to be free from sickness and care Just to be gay and fancy free. But life is not so And you must know That the following sick members have we. Joseph Kish Gabriel Soltész Mrs. G. Farkas Karl Heisen Mrs. Frank Soo May they each be well on the load to recovery. y As a small child anticipates the 'arrival of Christmas and Santa Claus that is how we anticipate the arrival of May, 1952, with its bowling tournament which will be held in Columbus, Ohio. Although we do not at present know for certain just who will go and who will not; we do know that we will try :to bring- home a trophy for our Branch, and why not? It is a handicapped tournament and anything can happen. Why, one of us just -might shoot a 300 game. We can dream, can’t we? As you are reading this the Christmas Season is undoubtedly in full force and that is why,—NOW,— with peace and love in your hearts think of your family’s future;—DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH INSURANCE ? Does every member of your family have enough insurance? Is your family amply protected should anything unforseen occur? Insurance is a wise investment. Do procure some before it is too late. As this is being written before our Christmas Party, I cannot say just how it was but I’m sure it was a happy affair. Holiday Greetings have been received from Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Gergely, who are in Englewood, Florida :and who wish the best to all. And, in conclusion, I wish to extend on behalf of my Wife, myself und two children, a Very Merry Christmas and a Joyous and Happy New Year to each and every one of you. What I don’t understand is: how can a small minority represent 1,500 members? Anyway, there will be no sale which is alright with the younger element.... The ten-year anniversary of Verhovay Social Club was attended by about 250 people. A nice dinner of roast chicken was palatable, in fact, delicious. The Verhovay Sports Club was represented by twentyfour delegates. Mrs. Joseph Bodnar is the President of the Social Club. * It is rumored that our “Great Lover” Susie Pischalko is getting married in the near future.... Sigmund Kadar and his wife Betty parted officially. But they are on the most' cordial terms. Sigmund hed two good character witnesses, a former President of Branch 14 and a councilwoman ... The Buckeye Window Cleaning Company may back a team in the forthcoming Verhovay National Tournament... We heard '„hat Jos. Semetko is a candidate for President of the Verhovay Sports Club.... Mrs. Carl Pertz has been at Marymount Hospital for about 21 days and is now at home, recuperating under Carl Pertz’s loving :are.... The Bodnars from the Verhovay made a flying visit to their hometown for the wedding of one of their relations.... A chicken dinner prepared by the managers of the Verhovay Home was given for the' bowlers of the Buckeye Window Cleaning Company. Frank Oravis and his family were the hosts.... The Verhovay Sports Club is planning a couple of card parties and a spare rib or short rib dinner after New Year’s Day.... sje The new officers elected at „he meeting of Branch 14, held on December 2nd, are: James Kovatch, President, William Urpan, Vice- President, Leslie J.
